After watching the Falcons play, a few aspects of the team and its players were apparent.
The first is that, despite graduating a strong group of seniors in 2019, the Falcons are going to be a difficult team to shake from the top of 3A. They’re tough, seasoned, athletic and gritty. They play great defense and bring a lot of energy to the floor.
Though the Falcons are a young team, the leadership of a few seniors made a big difference in their play and will be important to what they are able to produce in the upcoming season. Coach Mike Jeffries has instilled leadership responsibilities and liberties to these seniors and will expect big contributions from each.
Isaiah Williams 2020 point forward
Isaiah Williams proved to be the go-to senior for the Falcons, taking the heaviest share of the ball. Williams is a true three-level scorer, often bringing the ball up the floor and scoring from the post on the same possession. He can shoot the 3-ball, drive to the rim, post-up, or try his luck from mid-range. He’s crafty with the ball and can make moves on the drive. Defensively, Williams is a ball-hawk and can guard the paint or the perimeter alike.
Myles Jeffries 2020 combo guard
Myles Jeffries was the other high-volume shareholder of the ball for Millwood, but like Williams, can also impact the game without the ball in his hands. Jeffries has elite footwork and can create scoring opportunities for himself, a credit to his work in the gym. He can make his own shot on the perimeter, but is also good from the catch. He has the ability to penetrate as well and finishes with either hand better than most.
