Chris Hodges (Schaumburg)
Current Ranking: #4
Travel Team: Illinois Wolves
Hodges is the clear top post prospect in this class. He had a strong spring with the Illinois Wolves playing up on the 17U level of the UAA. The Schaumburg post averaged 9.8 points (63% from the field) along 4.7 rebounds per game. He was very efficient with his touches when we saw him during the spring. Power player that has improved his mobility around the hoop. Soft touch and quality footwork. Rebounds well in his area.
Grant Newell (Whitney Young)
Current Ranking: #10
Travel Team: Meanstreets
Newell is the new age four man with his length and ability to defend multiple positions including on the perimeter. Good athlete who is bouncy around the hoop. Quick to the glass for second chance opportunities and runs the floor very well for his size. Solid mid-range jump shot!
Olivier Maxence-Prosper (Lake Forest Academy)
Current Ranking: #12
Travel Team: Brookwood Elite
This Canadian native plays for an out of area travel team so we didn’t get to see him in the spring, but here is what he brought to the table when we saw him in high school. He has size at 6’8” along with above average athleticism. Mobile in the paint with the way he finishes. Can handle the ball and has touch on a mid-range jumper. Comfortable putting it on the deck in the half court. Runs the floor well. Multi positional defender!
Scottie Ebube (Mundelein)
Current Ranking: #16
Travel Team: Illinois Wolves
Ebube is a big bodied five man that boards with the best of them in this class. On the UAA 16U circuit he averaged 8.4 points and over 5 rebounds a game. Physical post player that finishes with strength on the interior. Excellent rebounder in his area dominating the glass against weaker opponents. Has some shot blocking to his game as well.
Ola Ajiboye (Von Steuben)
Current Ranking: #21
Travel Team: Team RWA
Ajiboye was profiled in our stock risers and here he is among the premier posts in the class. Mobile four man with an angular build. Plus shot blocker that protects the rim with the best of them in this class. His biggest impact is defensively, but his offensive skill set is emerging fast! Soft touch in the paint and can knock down a mid-range shot.
Brian Mathews (DePaul Prep)
Current Ranking: #27
Travel Team: HIT
Mathews is a throwback classic back to the basket player. Strong kid that likes to play physical on the interior. Fights on the glass and has a nice skill set from 15 feet and in. Flashed in the state tournament his immense potential as one of the better centers in the class.
Chad Readey (Homewood Flossmoor)
Current Ranking: #28
Travel Team: Young & Reckless
Readey struggled with injuries and now is finally back on the court after baseball season. The high level baseball pitcher has a chance to be a D1 prospect in basketball as well. Strong kid that can score in a variety of ways with crisp post moves and stretches the floor with ease out to beyond the arc. Physical post defender and rebounder.
Grant Johnson (Naperville North)
Current Ranking: #29
Travel Team: HIT
Face up four man who has a feathery shot that stretches to beyond the arc. Quality rebounder on the interior that fights well winning 50/50 boards. Highly skilled forward primed to breakout!
Luke Moustakas (Brother Rice)
Current Ranking: #31
Travel Team: Chicago Lockdown
Another pick and pop four man here! This Brother Rice power forward can drill threes spotting up or off a ball screen flaring to beyond the arc. Shows flashes of being able to score in the paint and is an improving rebounder.
Khailieo Terry (Champaign Central)
Current Ranking: #33
Travel Team: All-In
Terry is one of the most unique prospects in the class. Best pure athlete maybe in the high school game with his hops, but he is only 6’4” and has shown very little skill beyond quick takes from about 10 feet. We moved him to the power forward spot as that is what he is projecting at right now with his ability to play above the rim and rebound.
