Indiana
Caleb Furst (Indy Heat 17U)
Furst is one of my favorite 2021 prospects in the Midwest. Strong and physical lefty that is such a sound basketball player. Handles it exceptionally well for a power forward taking it off the rim in transition starting the break as well as getting to the rim in a couple dribbles from the top of the key. Snatches rebounds in traffic. Plus plus passer. Impressive combination of toughness and skill.
D’Andre Davis (Indy Heat 17U)
This Indianapolis 2020 wing was fantastic scoring the basketball. The 6’6” small forward used his second jump to get on the offensive glass. Got to the free throw line at a high rate attacking with strength off the bounce. As the game went on his jumper started to fall from three. Natural scorer who is committed to Nebraska.
Kiyron Powell (Indy Heat 17U)
Powell is a player I remember seeing briefly years ago in Kansas City as a 14 year old. You could tell he had potential. He is now starting to realize some of that upside. The Evansville Bosse (IN) 6’10” power forward is a super thin and wiry big man. He used his quickness around the hoop to get rebounds and throw down monster dunks. Even had a reverse layup. Scored 16 points against Quad City Elite mostly off just playing with high energy.
Jalen Washington (Meanstreets 15U)
Washington is one of the best 2021 prospects in the country. The Gary Westside High School freshman has positional size already to play as a power forward in college. Athletically he is very gifted. Then you add the skill in being able to handle it from the mid-post in and being mobile in the paint. Versatile player that can switch on an array of positions. Rebounded at a very high rate on Sunday high pointing boards over and over.
Jayden Brewer (Indy Heat 16U)
Brewer is a shooting guard out of Avon High School (IN) who can really score it. Long and lanky wing that glides to the hoop with ease including a sweet euro step. Also came away impressed with how well he passed it hitting his teammates over and over with crisp dishes.
Kamari Lands (Indy Heat 16U)
Lands is a stud 2022 prospect that was playing up on the 16U level. He attends prep power La Lumiere. Lands is an athletic small forward with a ton of quickness to his game. Explodes off the bounce with the ball in his hands. Smooth scorer that likes to get his buckets on straight line drives to the hoop or in the open floor. Potential to be a very good defender.
Khristian Lander (Indiana Elite 17U)
Lander is among the top 2021 point guards in the nation. He is fitting in great with a loaded Indiana Elite squad. Quick and shifty point guard that wins off the dribble with ease. He is an explosive lead guard that gets where he wants when he wants! Capable three point shooter. Outstanding defender that got steals on a consistent basis!
Mabor Majok (Indiana Elite 17U)
This 7’1” center showed the potential many saw in him at a young age. He was towering over his opponents on the court. Still a bit raw offensively although he did show some flashes. Rebounded well, protected the rim, and threw down huge dunks including a one handed tip slam!
Trey Galloway (Indiana Elite 17U)
Galloway is getting a lot of attention at the high major level. Broad shouldered wing who plays with a lot of toughness. Physical driver who displayed some natural scoring touch in the second half of the game we saw. Also threw down a couple nice jams! Like what he did on the perimeter as a defender being able to check multiple spots with his length and strength.
Ohio
Malaki Branham (Neo Tru Game 16U)
Branham is a prospect from Ohio that plays at St. Vincent St. Mary’s who jumped off the floor against Meanstreets. Athletic 6’5” wing that has a projectable frame. Was dynamic getting on the offensive glass for put backs and had a clean looking jumper. Star in the open floor playing above the rim. Bright future for this Ohio 2021 standout!
Marcus Johnson (All Ohio Red 17U)
Johnson stands at 6’4” from Columbus, Ohio. He is a tough wing that can score it with explosive takes to the rim. Showed athleticism both in the transition game and winning in one on one situations off the bounce.
Dom Penn (All Ohio Red 17U)
Penn is a point guard that slices and dices through the defense. Slick ball handler who can also knock down pull up three pointers.
Wisconsin
Tre White (Mac Irvin Fire 16U)
This was my first look at the 2022 standout shooting guard from Milwaukee. White isn’t the most elite athlete yet, but he is just so smooth and effortless as a scorer. Excellent size on the perimeter with an absolute lethal jump shot! Gets his jumper off quick from both mid-range and three. Can post up smaller defenders scoring out of the post.
Michael Foster (Mac Irvin Fire 17U)
Foster is a five-star top 5 talent nationally in 2021 from Milwaukee. Played like it at Run N Slam! He has such a rare combination of size, strength, power, and skill. The five man can handle it in the open floor and knock down threes like it’s nobody’s business. When he wants to score in the post he is pretty much unguardable garnering deep post position and throwing down the hammer over his opponents. Passes very well for a big man and had some impressive blocks. Overall his body seems to have improved along with his consistency and conditioning.
Jordan Majeed (Illinois Stars 17U)
Majeed is a point guard out of Wisconsin who was an impact player for the Illinois Stars Saturday in their win over All Ohio Red. Quick guard that likes to get out in transition making plays with his ball handling. Adequate mid-range shooter and slick passer.
David Joplin (Meanstreets 16U)
Joplin is intriguing in the 2021 class. This Wisconsin product has size and a nice frame at the forward position. He brings athleticism and a solid skill set to the table. Made plays in the lane and connected from mid-range on jumpers.
California
Amari Bailey (Mac Irvin Fire 16U)
Bailey is originally from Chicago, but now plays his high school ball in California. The 6’4” point guard put together an absolutely dominant weekend at Run N Slam. We saw a full game and a half of another. In the first one he scored 25 points in brilliant fashion on drives, dunks, and threes. Drilled the game winner at the buzzer. The second game we caught part of he dropped 44 points more than living up to his five star status. Just spectacular with the ball in his hands getting any shot he wanted. Also passes it with a ton of flair! The 2022 told PHI he remains committed to UCLA despite coaching change.
Missouri
Ryan Kalkbrenner (Mac Irvin Fire 17U)
This St. Louis product from Trinity Catholic is rising up many recruiting boards because of his defensive prowess. Long and lanky five man is an excellent rim protector coming from the weakside and even had a couple LeBron come from behind blocks. Offensively shows touch and footwork on the block and face up shooting potential.
Michigan
Griffin Yaklich (Illinois Irish 17U)
Yaklich is an Illinois native that now plays his high school ball in Michigan. We have seen him grow a ton over the last few years as he is now at 6’5”. Sound shooter from three that has improved his handles and ability to create off the bounce.
