<p>It was a long weekend of hoops at Run N Slam over the weekend in Fort Wayne.  PrepHoopsIllinois was able to catch up with many of the top prospects around the state and get updates on their recruitments.  We dive into that right here in our <strong>Run N Slam: Recruiting Notebook</strong>!</p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p><strong><u>Class of 2019</u></strong></p> <p><strong>SG Christopher Burnell (Illinois Stars 17U)</strong></p> <p>Burnell is an unsigned senior from Rockford East.  The top 50 2019 prospect told us, “A lot of prep schools.  Not a lot of D1’s.  I am just focused on going prep right now.  I am talking to Kebler Prep, Spire Prep, Athens Prep, and Bella Vista.  I am also considering JUCO’s.”</p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p><strong>SF Sha’Den Clanton (Illinois Stars 17U)</strong></p> <p>Clanton is coming off a strong senior year with his rangy game and high activity level.  “A lot of JUCO’s are talking to me.  I have offers from Lake Land and Rend Lake.  Offer from South Suburban.  Prep schools Hillcrest and Bella Vista are interested.  Athens Prep wants me.  I am kind of leaning toward prep right now.”</p> <p><strong> </strong></p> <p><strong> </strong></p> <p><strong><u>Class of 2020</u></strong></p> <p><strong>SG Keshawn Williams (Young &amp; Reckless 17U)</strong></p> <p>Williams is an explosive two guard that ranks inside the top 10 in the 2020 class.  He said on the recruiting front, “I am getting looks from West Virginia, Northwestern, and Providence as new stuff.  Offers are Colorado, Colorado State, St. Louis, Milwaukee, Hampton, UIC, and SIU.”  He has taken an official to Colorado along with unofficial visits to Colorado State and St. Louis.</p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p><strong>C Martice Mitchell (Young &amp; Reckless 17U)</strong></p> <p>Mitchell is the top center in the class with his size, length, and skill potential.  When it comes to his recruitment he explained to PHI, “I have been in contact with Oregon, Wake Forest, USC, and South Carolina.  I recently got an offer from Miami (OH). That goes with the other offers I have from UIC, St. Louis, Detroit, UW-Milwaukee, and others.  I might take an official visit to Miami (OH) in about a week.  I am going to go to Oregon also for a visit.”</p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p><strong>SF Christian Shumate (Young &amp; Reckless 17U) </strong></p> <p>Shumate is an elite level athlete with his versatility on the defensive end which stood out in Fort Wayne.  “Lately I have been talking to North Dakota a lot.  Chicago State came to one of my open gyms.  They have offered me.  Winona State has been talking to me.  St. Cloud has been hitting me up.”  He holds offers from Chicago State, Detroit, and Lewis.  Could potentially visit North Dakota and St. Cloud soon.</p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p><strong>SG Dante Maddox (Young &amp; Reckless 17U)</strong></p> <p>The scoring shooting guard had a big weekend shooting it from deep.  He holds offers from Southern Illinois, Milwaukee-Wisconsin, and Wisconsin Green Bay.  Miami (OH), Tulsa, and Cincinnati are a few others in contact.</p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p><strong>PF Kee Hargrow (Young &amp; Reckless 17U)</strong></p> <p>Hargrow is an athletic upside forward.  He told us, “UIC I just got an offer from them.  They saw me at an open gym when coach Dee Brown saw me.”  Tulsa has texted him as well.</p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p><strong>PG Marcus Watson (Mac Irvin Fire 17U)</strong></p> <p>Watson broke out last weekend at EYBL with his passing leading the league in dimes.  His recruitment has picked up.  “I recently got offers from Illinois and Wisconsin Green Bay.  I am also hearing from Dayton, Arizona State, and Michigan.”</p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p><strong>SG Sincere Parker (Mac Irvin Fire 17U)</strong></p> <p>Parker is one of the top two guards in the class with a long and lanky frame with a plus jumper.  “I have been getting feedback from a lot of schools including Mississippi State, Florida Atlantic, Colorado State, UIC, Long Beach State, Wisconsin Green Bay, Utah State.”  Currently he holds offers UIC, New Mexico, Long Beach State, and Wisconsin Green Bay.</p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p><strong>SF Jayson Kent (Mac Irvin Fire 17U)</strong></p> <p>Kent broke out with his perimeter shooting and rangy frame over the weekend.  He is receiving college interest saying some of the schools showing interest include IUPUI, Missouri, Ohio, Duquesne, Northern Kentucky, and Navy.  He has one offer right now from IUPUI.</p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p><strong>PF Ryan Isaacson (Chicago Lockdown 17U)</strong></p> <p>Isaacson is one of the more impressive power forwards in the class.  He talked with PHI about his recruitment saying he is hearing from, “Drake, Colgate, Wisconsin Green Bay, Indiana Wesleyan, Illinois Wesleyan, Minot State, and Loras.”  No offers currently.</p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p><strong>PF Mason Muller (Illinois Irish 17U)</strong></p> <p>Skilled face up forward that has some athletic pop.  On the recruiting front he said, “I am hearing from quite a few D3 schools in Illinois Wesleyan and Augustana.  Interest from D2’s Emporia State and Minnesota Duluth.”</p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p><strong>G Connor Dillon (Illinois Irish 17U)</strong></p> <p>It was a big weekend for the Peoria Notre Dame combo guard as he went off for 35 points in one game we saw.  He told us when it comes to his recruitment, “Lafayette and Lehigh.  Bradley has been to a couple games.”</p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p><strong>PF Jack Weber (Illinois Irish 17U)</strong></p> <p>Weber is a physical post defender that can really pass it.  On his recruitment he said, “I got an Illinois-Springfield offer a couple weeks ago.  I am going to visit them next week.  Illinois Wesleyan and Emporia State are interested.”</p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p><strong>PF Frank Jakubicek (Quad City Elite 17U)</strong></p> <p>This face up four from Cary Grove updated us on the latest with his recruitment saying, “There are a couple new schools.  Belmont has been hitting me pretty hard.  Northern Iowa came to a workout.”</p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p><strong>SG Matthew Ambrose (Quad City Elite 17U)</strong></p> <p>Ambrose is one of the top pure shooters in the class, but the Stevenson wing showed a more versatile game over the weekend.  With his recruitment he said, “I took a couple visits to Truman State and Rockhurst.  I took one to Illinois Wesleyan as well.”</p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p><strong><u>Class of 2021</u></strong></p> <p><strong>SF Troy D’Amico (Meanstreets 16U)</strong></p> <p>This skilled Niles Notre Dame forward has been productive this spring.  He broke down his recruitment saying, “Drake came out to watch an open gym.  Miami (OH) came out to talk with me and Anthony (Sayles).”</p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p><strong>PF Grant Newell (Meanstreets 16U)</strong></p> <p>Newell had a monster performance on Sunday in the quarterfinals!  He told us that after the live period Purdue is starting to show interest.  They have also been in to see him in open gyms.</p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p><strong>SF John Poulakidas (Young &amp; Reckless 16U)</strong></p> <p>Poulakidas is an uber skilled 6’5” small forward that can score with ease.  With recruiting he said, “Butler is recruiting me.  I am going out to their camp and to visit them in the summer.  Coach Francis from California I am visiting there in the summer as well.  Loyola Chicago is coming to one of my open gyms.  I talked to Stanford last week.”</p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p><strong>SG Brandon Weston (Mac Irvin Fire 17U)</strong></p> <p>Weston is the #3 prospect in the state despite missing his sophomore season after transferring to Morgan Park.  When it comes to recruiting he says “I have an offer from Wake Forest.  Interest from Syracuse, Georgetown, Louisville, and Missouri.”  Wake Forest, UMass, and Chicago State are his current offers.  Weston says there is a chance he could reclassify to 2020.</p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p><strong>SG Ahamad Bynum (Mac Irvin Fire 16U)</strong></p> <p>Bynum had a hot streak at the end of the year helping Simeon make it to the sectional final.  When it comes to his recruitment he says schools that have been into see him in open gyms include New Mexico, Mizzou, Illinois State, and DePaul.  Says he would like to visit Illinois soon who offered him at the end of the season.</p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p><strong><u>Class of 2022</u></strong></p> <p><strong>C AJ Casey (Meanstreets 15U)</strong></p> <p>Casey is the top 2022 prospect in the state of Illinois with his versatile skill set and athleticism.  He told us when it comes to his early recruitment, “Interest from Mizzou is new.  Schools that been into open gyms are Mizzou, Bradley, Wisconsin, and Illinois.”  He holds offers from Illinois, DePaul, and Tulane.”</p>
