It’s packed with the best talent from around the state and this year was no different. Today, we are looking at the top 2022 prospects in the event and those at the wing positions.
James Smith – 6’2 SF 2022 – Lawrence Central (IN) – All Indy Gym Rats 2022 Black
James is a big wing with a lot of strength and uses that to help him as a driver. He’s so good as a slasher to the rim, can finish through contact well. He’s diverse with his dribble drive game right now. Can pull-up in the mid-range or mix in a runner or finish at the rim. Big wing with strength and room to grow.
Larry Pierce – 6’4 SG 2022 – University (IN) – EG10 2022
Larry is a long, lean wing scorer who continues to impress each time out. He was really good on the boards in this one as a guy that can really land rebounds on both ends. He’s very skilled with the ball in his hands and should keep him as more of a guard right now but as a wing in general he can bring a ton of value. Want to see a little more of a perimeter jumper folded in down the road.
Will Loving-Watts – 6’4 SF 2022 – Jeffersonville (IN) – Indiana Elite 2022
Will showed a lot of what makes him special this weekend. He’s got a ton of length and an elite body with some handles. He was playing well out in transition and had a ton of bounce in his game. I also thought his rebounding was really solid, doing it against some high level athletes and length. He’s more of a wing right now with the ball handling ahead of his shooting and best as a slasher.
Luke LaGrange – 6’5 SF 2022 – Leo (IN) – MBA Select 2022
Luke is a solid wing forward with a ton of skill and upside. He has been just okay when we have seen him before but this was by far the best we have seen him. He was much more aggressive and strong with his play, looking to slash and finish at the rim and mixing in a jumper from deep. He’s got the ability to be a 3/4 and the body should be fine as he adds more weight. Has some length but his skill seems to be there, just needing to find ways to draw it out.
J.J. Louden Jr. – 6’3 SF 2022 – Brownsburg (IN) – Team Teague 2022
This was probably the best we have seen from JJ. He looks bigger and stronger and was finishing at a much higher rate at the rim. Really solid defensively when locked in, to the point where he looks like he is going to have some versatility. Want to see little more on the offensive side of the ball. Slasher, toughness at the rim right now and doing most of it in transition. Just need to see what else is in the skillset.
Reggie Bass – 6’4 SG 2022 – Muncie Central (IN) – Team Teague 2022
Reggie is a top end talent and looking more and more like a real contender for the top spot in the state. He’s tall and long but brings with him a ton of aggressiveness and action. He’s great off the bounce, able to pull-up from three or mid-range, but always looking for buckets and can use his ball handling to get him where he needs to be. Loved his ability to pick his spots, he never felt like he was overplaying his hand. He was always under control but producing at a very high-level. Might have to look at the top of the board again.
