It could be argued that no player in the entire state has seen their stock rise more than the 6’9 power forward. He is a high percentage three point shooter from and has good athleticism to go with it. He can really block shots and run the floor. Offensively, he can finish inside with skill or an emphatic dunk. I wrote about Jackson during the Fall and labeled him as a sleeper to watch out for. The term sleeper and Jackson Grant no longer belong in the same sentence, as he has seen his recruitment blow up since joining Washington Supreme and playing in the Under Armour Association. Jackson mentioned that the recruitment process has been going really well for him overall and he also discussed his offers, new schools of interest and visits that he has been on to date.
Jackson currently holds offers from the University of Washington and Pepperdine University. The once under the radar prospect now has a couple of legitimate Division 1 offers and some new schools have gotten into the mix this Spring. Jackson tells Prep Hoops, “Stanford has been really interested as of late and a newer interest is UCLA who saw me play in Kansas City.” UCLA has been in touch with him since scouting him for the first time. University of Colorado has called on the phone and Santa Clara University visited during one of his practices.
As far as campus visits go, Jackson has been on a couple as his recruitment has picked up. During Spring break he went down to Stanford for an unofficial and his family was with him on the visit as well. Stanford definitely has a lot to offer and so does the destination of his second visit. Jackson went with his team on an unofficial to Princeton University while in New Jersey. Jackson mentioned, “I’m looking to play basketball at the highest level, while getting a great education to set me up for after basketball.” He adds, “A relationship with the coach is also really important, because he will push me and become of a mentor over the next four to five years.”
Jackson was also nominated for The Workout as one of the top players in the entire Under Armour Circuit. Jackson is a legitimate Power-Five recruit that will ultimately make his decision on a balance of high level basketball, academics and his relationship with the coaching staff. The class of 2021 in Washington is loaded with high level prospects, but be on the look out for Jackson to make some more movement in the near future.
