The 6’1 lead guard has been great with Indy Heat 2020 on the EYBL circuit. He’s shown that his game can play well at the highest level and even before this, he was trending in the right direction. Now, not many can say he shouldn’t be drowning in offers.
Heading into this AAU season, Pack was already holding offers from schools like Southern Illinois, Miami (OH), Ball State, Toledo, Indiana State, IUPUI, and Bradley. He had proven this stock at the Low-Major+ level with a lot of Midwestern programs. HIs dominating three-point shot and great set-up skills in the full court.
But playing high school in Indiana and playing on the EYBL circuit are obviously not the same, although some in the Hoosier State would argue the MIC is pretty good. So, when he started off EYBL by not only continuing that strong play but getting improvement, it makes it easier for some higher level programs to attach themselves. So that is why you see teams like Loyola (IL), Belmont, Cleveland State, Butler, and Northern Kentucky join in.
That should be just the start of a big Summer for him. He’s the perfect guard for programs at the high major level. Not an elite player but one that is going to make better players play at the top of their game. Nijel is impactful scoring the ball when he needs to but he’s not a straight up scorer with his focus so that helps him to distribute the ball at a high-level.
On the EYBL circuit, Pack hasn’t even shot the ball all that well yet hitting 7 of 33 from deep. But, he’s put up 16.8 points per game and shooting a crazy 92.5% from the free throw line. But the magic in his game is that assist number, 4.9 APG. That is to just 14 turnovers in 8 games. He’s secure and impactful and a big reason why Indy Heat is 6-2 on the circuit this season.
Butler is probably the best offer he has right now but they might just be the start of things because with everything Pack is doing so far, once he starts shooting the ball like he normally does, his stock is only going to go up.
