Some top end teams joined the circuit this week leading to top players.
Here are some more of the top rising juniors at the event:
D’Marco Dunn SG 6’3 Tucson Marana HS (Powerhouse Hoops 16U UAA)
-Can score it from all 3 levels and is very good defensively. He can catch and shoot from the arc plus pull-up from mid-range. He is also very tough to stop once he gets downhill. He seems to bounce off of defenders with his stronger frame and score it through contact. He is a cerebral passer/play-maker and can cut off any opponent on the ball. He rebounds well for a guard. (Pictured on cover)
Maxwell Lewis F 6’7 AZ Compass Prep (Dream Vision Next)
-Unreal length and a quick twitch athlete. Amazing on the break and good body control in traffic. Downhill player who takes very few strides to get to the basket. Can pull-up off dribble but could make strides with handle. Can close out to shooters well and is a solid catch 3pt shooter.
Frankie Collins PG 6’1 AZ Compass Prep (Dream Vision Next)
-First step is incredible and gives a hard jab step to go by his defender. Can pull-up off the dribble from mid to the 3pt line. Really good passer in traffic or full court passes. His ability to change speeds and his tight handle set him apart from other players. Tough, strong and athletic to get downhill.
Damion McDowell F 6’5 Dorsey HS (The Truth 16U EYBL)
-Long and athletic and can score it inside. Good defensively is the passing lanes plus rebounding or blocking shots. Handles the ball well and can get downhill. Good shooting stroke but is more of a paint scorer. Active on the glass to keep the ball alive. Can pull-up off dribble from mid-range.
Donovan Watkins PG 5’7 Corona Centennial HS (LA Elite 16U)
-May have been the fastest end to end player I viewed. Runs track and you can tell immediately. Has a pretty stroke from deep and gets it off quickly. Has a nice floater game and can make contested shots in traffic.
Joshua “JJ” Uphold PF 6’5 Garces Memorial HS (The Truth 16U EYBL)
-Tough as nails. Hard worker and will run through a wall for his teammates. Good around the cup and outworks opponents for rebounds.
