Here were some of the standout rising seniors I viewed:
Osasere Ighodaro PF 6’9 (Desert Vista/PHH Rise 17U)
-Mid-range game is coming in more consistently and has great body control to finish in traffic. He has elite length to alter or block shots in and out of area. Can crossover over his man and finish in traffic above the rim or lay it in off the glass. His feel for the game to make others better is special. You very rarely see a 6’9 HS player make the plays he makes. The angles he uses are next level stuff. Top prospect at event.
DeAndre Henry PF 6’7” (Mountain Pointe HS/Powerhouse Hoops 17 Rise)
-Strong hands and tough player who seems to grab or catch anything near him. His hands are big and has good hand-eye coordination to corral rebounds and tougher passes in traffic. His face-up game was working out to the 3pt line and his post game was strong inside. Keeps improving weekly it seems.
Owen Koonce 6’5 SF (Centaurus HS/Colorado Titans Gold 17U)
-Good catch 3pt shooter and sneaky athletic. Stronger frame and can finish through contact in traffic. Smart player who plays the game the right way and is always playing hard. One of the best finds of the weekend will turn a lot of heads in the next live period.
Dayton Harris PG 6’2 (Skyline HS/The Show 17U)
-Pure PG who is very patient. Has a great pace to his game and smartly changes speeds well. He scores it easily and is a left/right hand passer in traffic. He can thread the needle and makes his teammates better. He can slither down the lane and make a play. Either drives/kicks or dumps it off to a big inside. He can pull-up from mid-range and is quick on the ball defensively. Can get downhill and finish in traffic. He has become a well-rounded true PG.
Tay Boothman PG 6’0 (Buckeye HS/Powerhouse Hoops 17 Rise)
-Boothman is slowly getting back healthy. He separated his shoulder in March and his now rounding into form. He is a catch and shoot 3pt shooter who can pull-up off the dribble. When he is rolling he is one of the better shooters out there. He is a quick on-ball defender and has a nice runner/floater. He is a better passer than he gets credited for and is ultra competitive.
Trey Donaldson CG 6’1 (Gilbert Christian/Powerhouse Hoops 17 Black)
-Shooter from 3pt to mid-range. Nice pull-up off dribble is best shot. Super athletic to the rim with great burst and plays above the rim on the break with ease. Has an impressive in and out dribble and crossover in traffic. He could handle intense ball pressure better but had an overall great showing this weekend.
Donaldson is one of the more explosive guards you will see.TJ Green F 6’5” (Carl Hayden HS/Powerhouse Hoops Black 17U)
-Fluid athlete can handle and run like a track star. Incredible finisher on the break and guards multiple positions well. Great body control in traffic and faces up or rips through. Range needs to be extended beyond 15-feet but has a good motor to compete. Once he rips through he can get to the rim and finish off difficult layups.
