Heading into the next couple of weeks, athletes will switch teams and do whats necessary for their exposure. Several Alabama players have taken the season by storm. With that being said, Here are 5 things we’ve learned so far:
Colby Jones has arrived. Jones is a 6’5-6’6 guard that can play both on and off the ball. People have always known about his potential, but I feel that this kid is finally breaking out. Jones is a well rounded player who can do it all, and he plays with a high IQ. When it’s all said and done, Colby Jones could be the No. 1 2020 prospect.
Alabama Fusion has the best collection of talent. If you have not watched this team, you are missing out. This group of players is unselfish and plays so well together as a unit. The Fusion lack quality depth in the post, but this team has athletes that are willing to play out of position. Most notable players on the roster are Colby Jones, Tommy Murr, Austin Harvell, Mark Sears, Jadan Coleman, Jamel King, Tyler Lang, and Reginald Perry.
Lack of HM Prospects. There are a handful of prospects that have received HM attention and offers, but the majority of the D1 prospects in this class will produce at the LM-MM level. It is early and things could change, but there is nothing wrong with playing at the LM-MM level and producing.
Whose No. 1? This is a question that will not be answered until late into the prep season. Jayden Stone’s transfer to Sunrise Academy (KS), opens the door for competition for the No. 1 spot. Stone was the clear No. 1, but now several players have made the case for the top spot. There is not a clear favorite right now for the top spot. Colby Jones, Rongie Gordon, Antwan Burnett, Mark Sears, and Austin Harvell are players that could end up as the 2020 No. 1 player.
Players on the rise. Several players have performed very well and turned heads in the opening weeks of the spring season. These are players that are poised to make that next step. Hayden Lamey, Jalen Myers, Trey Bonham, Giancarlo Valdez, Shannon Grant, Titus Griffin, Sam Youngblood, and Sedrick Pettway.
