Horn lit it up at times in helping the Northwest Prospects finish strong at the adidas Gauntlet Gold 16U Division in Dallas this past weekend and his hope is that college coaches are catching wind of his exploits so he can reach some goals he’s set out for himself.
“I feel like I did really well last weekend,” Horn said. “There’s obviously some things I can work on but playing in the adidas Gauntlet will for sure make me a better player.”
In one game in the tournament, Horn lit it up for 33 points including knocking down eight threes. When we saw Horn play earlier this spring, he showed the ability to heat up from the outside in a hurry – something he did this past season helping lead Mountain View to the playoffs for the first time in years. But Horn isn’t a standstill shooter by any means. He plays with a motor where he will attack the basket and surprise opponents with his ability to finish near the basket despite his size.
“I’m mostly known as a shooter,” Horn said. “So when teams get into it and start to know what I’m going to do, I start to drive more and get my teammates open more. I’m trying to get quicker, stronger, and trying to win games and tournaments. We’re traveling a lot more (this year) so I’m trying to get more looks.”
Horn is hoping that college coaches are paying attention. So far he’s been hearing from some schools here and there and he’s been seen by Northern Arizona at a workout. He’s appreciative of the attention and has big plans for his future.
“I’m trying to go a big D-I college and then go far – play pro basketball after that,” Horn said. “I want to stay on the West Coast like California, but I just want to play basketball.”
