Amari Bailey (Mac Irvin Fire 16U)
Bailey showed why he is a national talent with his clutch play when things got out of hand for the Fire. He showed great composure making big shot after shot in the semifinal game of the tournament. Amari took what the defense gave him and made them pay. He pushed the ball well in the open court weaving through defenders and getting to the rim, he made tough shots with multiple defenders in his face. There wasn’t much this kid didn’t do. He finished with 24 points in the first game along with 9 rebounds.
Amar Augillard (All-In Athletics 16U)
The Zion Benton standout looked like a man amongst boys in his 16U matchup against Mac Irvin Fire. Amar is not just a big bodied 6’5 kid that bangs inside all day he stepped out often and hit some big three pointers for his squad. Augillard was a problem for the Fire. They just didn’t have much of an answer for him defensively. He finished with 23 points, 12 boards, and 3 blocks. Low-major plus player right now in 2021.
Michael Foster (Mac Irvin Fire 17U)
Foster started Sunday the way he ended the previous day, a physical force that proved to be too much for his competition. Mike just plays with a motor that you love to see, his efforts on both ends was electric. Against RWA he did his work on the inside first before stepping out around the perimeter. Foster finished with 18 points and 13 boards in a blowout win.
Ramean Hinton (Team Rose 17U)
Hinton was instrumental in his team victory over Y&R on Sunday. The relentless style of basketball he plays is contagious and his teammates feed off of it. Ramean’s energy while defending on the ball and off the ball gears him up to be a better scorer. He was more of a slasher this game where he read how defenders guarded him and often made them pay for trying to over play him. Hinton had numerous layups and dunks because of it. He finished with 19 points, 7 rebounds, and 4 assist.
Keshawn Williams (Young & Reckless Stan 17U)
Mr. Williams is still playing himself back from an injury he suffered during the high school season. His efforts against the Illinois Heat was nothing short of superb. He anticipated passes that led to layups and alley-oops to teammates. In the half court he and his high school teammate (Dante Maddox) scored in bunches feeding off each other for corner three point shots and a couple a nice dribble pull up jumpers. Keshawn is starting to warm up and this game was a good indication of what is to come this spring.
Sean Burris (I Hustle 16U)
Burris is one of the new finds I saw this weekend. Players and coaches raved about his performance the day before against Team Rose in bracket play. Against Y&R Jeremy he didn’t disappoint at all. Sean plays at a good pace and is very smart with ball in his hands. His knack for getting in the lane and drawing defenders taking pressure off teammates is second to none. Burris scored on all three levels just as well as any guard in the event. On the defensive side he guards really well on and off the ball. He led his team in scoring with 24 points and 9 assists.
