Hard Work Live Day 1 Standouts
STOUGHTON — Marking the beginning of the spring evaluation period, the Prep Hoops Circuit carried on as Hard Work Live tipped across the Madison area. Who stood out on opening night in front of a slew of college coaches?
Isaiah Davis – 2020 – PG – Wisconsin Academy – Armstrong
La Follette is going to lost some quality guards. Look for Davis to potentially step up and soften the blow. A strong, athletic guard, Davis can get to the rim plenty, hang, and finish in traffic. Once Davis gets into the teeth of the defense, he’s quite explosive. Davis can also move without the basketball and be effective in the catch-and-shoot game as well.
Matthew Enghauser – 2020 – W/G – Fundamental U Grey
Enghauser did a little bit of everything during Friday’s blowout win over the Wisconsin Blaze. A well-rounded prospect, Enghauser balances his duties as a scorer and facilitator very well. Enghauser stands at 6-foot-6 and is able to play and defend a variety of positions, including point guard. He’s a difficult matchup on the perimeter given his size, ballhandling skills, shooting ability, and floor vision. Defensively, Enghauser doesn’t take plays off either. He always has his head on a swivel and plays outstanding help and recover defense.
Jacksun Hamilton – 2020 – W/F – La Crosse Elevate
We’ve always liked Hamilton and felt he could get a lot more out of his talent. Based on Friday’s performance, things look like they’re starting to click for the intriuging 6-foot-6 junior. Hamilton has terrific size and length for the perimeter and was able to create quality shots consistently from mid-range and at the rim. The La Crosse Logan standout got it done in transition as well, getting ahead of the pack and scoring on run-out opportunities. A prospect with top 50 upside, Hamilton should be attracting Division 3 and NAIA programs over the next several months.
Garrett James – 202- F – Wisconsin Academy – Armstrong
James gave Wisconsin Academy a lift against the Illinois Blaze with his 3-point shooting. The 6-foot-4 forward got hot on a few occasions, including a stretch in the second half that led his team back into the ball game after a sizable deficit. While James did most of his damage from beyond the arc, he showed some versatility, taking the ball into the paint and grabbing a key offensive rebound/putback in the second half.
Ben Olson – 2020 – PF – La Crosse Elevate
A prospect that could play his way into the rankings after this weekend, Olson looked good in a win over All-In Athletics. The 6-foot-6 junior did some impressive things in transition, getting out and running the floor and finishing above the rim. Olson has a big frame and moves well for his size, which also helps on the defensive end as a rim protector. An active big man who can affect the game without a lot of touches, the Holmen standout turned a lot of heads on Friday.
Owen Ziegler – 2020 – SG – Wisconsin Hoops Select
Ziegler had 16 points and five assists as Wisconsin Hoops Select rolled to a victory over Motion Elite. The Mount Horeb standout is a quick trigger guard that also facilitates the basketball very well. A player that has the green light every time he touches the basketball, Ziegler has one of the quickest shots in the state, which forces defenders to stick to him like glue. Ziegler didn’t have his eyes just glued to the rim though. The junior guard did a good job of burning the opposition with backdoor passes that led to easy buckets once they begun to overplay.
