One of the best teams in the midwest and arguably the best team in the Dakotas figures to be the 17U Pentagon Schoolers. With top-notch talent from Southwest Minnesota, North Dakota and South Dakota, the Schoolers should be a goldmine for college programs looking for talent.
Here’s a quick look
Guards: Boden Skunberg, Rudy Voss, Nick Sayler, Max Nielson, Cooper Cornemann
Skunberg is a North Dakota State commit and the consensus best player in North Dakota out of Jamestown. At 6-foot-4, he’s an excellent mid and long range shooter and has the smoothness in his game that allows him to get wherever he wants on the floor.
Voss is a Minnesota kid, coming over from Jackson County Central where he’s been one of the best players in the southern part of the state for a few years. He put up better than 20 points, five rebounds and five assists as a junior.
Nielson joins the Schoolers after playing with SD Attack and brings some definite juice to the equation. At 5-foot-11, he’s packed with scoring ability and provides solid perimter defense.
Sayler and Cornemann are top-30 guys in South Dakota and should come in and excel as off-ball guys who can space the floor.
Forwards: Andrew Bergan, Ryan Schuster, Gavin Terhark, Zach Witte, Ryder Kirsch
This frontcourt is loaded with most of the top big guys in South Dakota.
Bergan is an inside-outside threat from Aberdeen Central, who at 6-foot-7, can space the floor but also rebound and play effectively in the paint.
Kirsch is one of the most explosive players in South Dakota. At 6-foot-6, he’s got a nice shooting stroke and touch but can blow by slower defenders and finish at a high level in traffic.
Terhark was a consistent inside presence for a really good Brandon Valley team last winter and at 6-foot-7, he’s a force on both ends of the floor.
Witte was a solid piece for Sioux Falls Christian this past winter and gives the team a big, athletic piece who can guard up and down a lineup.
Schuster is a multi-year starter from Sioux Valley and at 6-foot-4, he’s got a skillset that should allow him to blend in nicely on this team. He does a little bit of everything well and should make a big impact on the defensive end of the floor.
