ND Attack is one of the rising grassroots programs in North Dakota and has three 17U level teams this summer. The Blue team might be the best one of them all.
Here is a quick look:
Guards: Jaxton Wiest, Jaxon Wiseman, Tanner Brunsberg, Avery Thorsgard, Dante Gunville
Wiest was one of the best guards in the WDA this past year, averaging 10 points and better than four assists. He’s got good size and his ability to get to the paint and either score and find teammates is something he can showcase this spring and summer in a more open setting.
Wiseman was one of the top scorers in North Dakota last year despite shooting less than 30 percent from 3-point range and about 62 percent from the free throw line. He’s excellent in transition and at getting to the rim.
Gunville was one of ND Attack’s top guys last year and can score from all three levels effectively. He’s a dynamic deep shooter and could be this team’s top scorer overall. He put up big numbers in his junior for for Des Lacs Burlington and this will be a great opportunity for him to showcase his game further for people who don’t get a chance to see him play during the winter.
Brunsberg comes over from Park Christian in Moorhead, Minn. where he was one of the top players in the Pine to Prairie Conference.
Forwards: Seth Nelson, Chance Danner, Easton Larson
Nelson was one of the most productive players on this team a year ago and brings size, athleticism and skill to the frontcourt. He’s got a strong floor game and can be a mismatch nightmare because of his size and strength coupled with his ball handling and mobility. He put up huge numbers for Carrington High School and is arguably the top prospect on this team.
Danner was one of the best rebounders and interior defenders in Class B North Dakota last season and figures to play a similar role on this team. He’ll be asked to do a lot of the dirty work and he does it extremely well usually.
Larson is one of the top returning big men in the WDA next season and at 6-foot-5, he’s got solid skills inside. He’ll have an opportunity to play a lot up front against high quality competition which should benefit him and the Minot program greatly.
