Zachary Wagner – NAZ Elite
The Elite were the best rebounding team on the first day of the tournament. He specifically boxed out the other team’s biggest guy and secured the boards to allow few second-chance opportunities.
David Oparaji – Aztecs
On a team that did not have a ton of size in the starting five, he made a lot of key boards. He used his big body to box out well and could jump high enough to collect rebounds on both ends, especially on the defensive end.
Austin Baumgartner – AZ Grit
Baumgartner’s biggest contribution on the boards came at the offensive end. He hustled hard and created a lot of second-chance opportunities, especially during stretches where the offense was not shooting well. When they were, he still hustled on the defensive end. His rebounds were a big part of the team’s 2-0 record the first day.
Troy Yazzie – NAZ Elite
Like the other rebounders on the list, he utilized his big body. But, he didn’t have to tower over anybody, because he just simply outworked opposition near the boards. He then made good passes off defensive rebounds to get transition opportunities.
