Continue ReadingSterling Newman 6’8” center Devon House had an outstanding junior campaign. The top 15 2020 prospect led his squad to another outstanding season and was recognized for it by receiving more votes than anyone for first team all-state at the 2A level. What you have to like about his big man is how well he can score on the block with his touch around the hoop. He is light on his feet for his size and rebounds well in his area. We caught up with House to discuss his season.
“It was a great season. We went 31-3 I think. We broke our school record for wins, won conference, and won two tournaments. Overall I think I had a great season averaged like 20 points, 9 rebounds, 2 blocks, 2 assists, and a steal. Won MVP of one tournament and first team all-tournament in two tournaments. Just got upset in the sectional championship this season. Possibly could’ve been at state this year, but I think we should be a state team next year.”
Where did he see the most growth in his game from the end of the summer to now?
“I would say just being quicker and faster has been better and smarter on the court.”
House doesn’t have any offers right now, but the state’s #3 2020 center has plenty of schools in communication heading into the spring.
“Been in contact with Bradley, Tulsa, North Dakota, Omaha, Charleston, and Chicago State.”
What is he looking for in a program?
“I’m looking for somewhere that’s best for me and my family. I want to make sure they can make my games and somewhere I have a great relationship with the coaches and the players and I feel comfortable playing my game.”
He will be running with a new travel team this spring in the Iowa Barnstormers. House spoke with us about what he is looking forward to about his final run on the circuit.
“Just to have a great AAU season with my team. Hopefully getting wins and the college coaches come and watching. Hopefully I can pick up more offers and win a championship with my team and help them out.”
