Starting in the 2nd half it was smooth sailing for the Barons.
Gray talked to us about giving Blue Ridge the momentum heading into half, “We got stops on the defensive end which gave me more options to hit the three’s that I made and the guards made good plays kicking it out to me.”
Gray is really excited about making it to the state finals tomorrow, “It is big, coming from the last school I was at, we couldn’t really have a chance of getting to the state finals so just getting there is great and with these players that are on our team it is just super fun.”
After talking to Gray it seems as if he thought the regular season could have been better so he is even more eager to win the championship tomorrow, “The regular season went well, I wanted to get more wins than we got but we got as many wins as we could and I think it just went the best that it could have.”
When asked what he brings to the court when he is at his best, he said, “When I am at my best it is when my defense is going good and I am talking and then that just leads to me making shots which then helps our team get going and then when our team is playing good defense that really helps me get going.”
Gray is only a sophomore but he is already being looked upon as being an important leader to this team, “My role on the team is to be a leader, to make defensive plays, get rebounds and score.”
As far as recruitment goes, he is already receiving heavy interest from six schools, “It is going good, we have been getting interest from NC State, Virginia Tech, JMU, Canisius, Drake and Hampton.”
When asked what it will take to bring a championship back to Blue Ridge, he said, “Just be strong on the defensive end, make the extra play, hustle and we will come out with a win”
