2021
Paris Woods SG 6’5” 165 Apollo (AZ Future)
-Woods shined this weekend with some huge games. He made his outside shot and cashed in with his famous floater game. He really gets after it on the defensive end with steals, blocks and rebounds the ball. His length and speed allows him to be disruptive. He got out on the break with some impressive dunks and if he can get more consistent from deep, the sky’s the limit for Woods.
Nicholas Riley C 6’8” 205 Eduprize (I Play Elite)
-Riley is one of the three newcomers for me. He is one of the bigger sophs in the state at around 205 pounds. He has an incredible build/frame with long arms and is extremely strong and physical in the post. He is more of a defender then an offensive weapon currently and seems to grab every rebound near him and blocks shots as well. He has huge hands and feet and it doesn’t look like he is done growing either. He was originally at Chandler HS and transferred to Eduprize but missed the cut off to play so he missed a full year of hoops. Look for him to make a big jump over the next two years.
Tanner Crawford PF 6’6” 190 Williams Field (Inspire DBR 16U)
-Crawford is a bouncy face-up 4-man who plays really hard. He is another player I haven’t seen. He runs the floor well and gets physical inside. He is shockingly springy where he is already above the rim on the break. He can step out and shoot it from around 17-feet and in and is crafty around the hoop.
Montez Taylor PG 5’8” Williams Field (Inspire DBR 16U)
-Taylor is another newcomer. He is very fast with the ball in his hands and a ball-hawk on defense. He uses his tight handle and quicks to turn the corner on his defender and get into the lane in a blink of an eye. Once he is in the paint, he makes plays for others. He is more of a true PG then scorer. He is a streaky perimeter shooter and could make strides with that but you can’t leave him open.
William Betteridge PG 5’9” Chaparral (AZ Triple Threat 16U)
-Betteridge is a cerebral pure PG. He is a good 3pt shooter off the catch and his mind works plus is consistently making great reads to teammates for easy scores. His IQ and skill get it done but once he gets stronger, he will be even more effective.
2022
Ahamed Mohamed CG 5’8” Apollo (AZ Future)
-Mohamed caught fire this weekend. He hit around 8 3pt shots in only two games. His release is one of the fastest in the class and has volleyball line range. He is on the smaller side but has a polished floater game, good speed and makes the opposing ball handlers uncomfortable with his lateral quickness.
Raydon Thorson PG 5’11” Queen Creek (AZ Future)
-Thorson is another old school PG. He has good strength, great court vision and likes to get downhill. He can make any pass and has a tight handle. He does need to work on his perimeter shooting but is capable. He changes speeds well to get into the lane and scores it through contact.
