Players make the list for various reasons, such as: they had a breakout regular season and I want to see how that translates into AAU, they are very talented players, or because I think they are about to have a break out summer. No matter what the reason, you should definitely check these guys out this summer!
Kyree Walker (6’5 G Hillcrest Prep/Dream Vision)
One of the top players in the nation, projected to go to the NBA, and an winner’s mentality…is that enough to intrigue you? Walker is a must watch every time he steps on the court due to the potential of where he could go. He is an amazing player and always makes a few highlight plays in every game he’s in. He is also a lot of fun to watch due to how badly this guy wants to win and how competitive he is on the court.
Dalen Terry (6’5 G Hillcrest Prep/Compton Magic)
Dalen Terry led the nation in assists this season, according to Max Preps. He is one of the best passers I’ve seen in a high school prospect. He can also go and get his own points in a moments notice. He is super long and speedy, making a perfect combination for highlight plays in transition.
Osasere Ighodaio (6’7 F Desert Vista/Powerhouse 17u UA Rise)
Ighodaio is a player who has sky high potential. He is super long and athletic! He will make a great SF at the next level and is so fun to watch. He puts down some of the nastiest poster dunks in the state. He has a lot of bounce so every time he drives to the rim, be on high alert because he might just be coming to posterize his defender.
Jeron Artest (6’4 G Bella Vista/Powerhouse Black)
Artest had a great season for Bella Vista and looked very impressive against LaMelo Ball. He proved that he could hang with that tier of talent and should be looked at more often. He played great defense against Ball and even won Defensive Player of the Year for the Grind Session. I think Artest is going to have a big summer and prove to a lot of people that he is more than just a big name, he is one of the best prospects in the state.
Dominic Gonzalez (6’3 G Ironwood/Factory)
Gonzalez had a breakout year this high school season that gathered him a lot of low end D1 and D2 interest. I am excited to see how his game will translate to the AAU season. I think this is a good opportunity for him to prove that he has the athleticism to play at the next level as AAU ball is a lot more athletic than the HS game in my opinion. Athleticism has always been the concern for him in the eyes of college scouts so this is a prime opportunity to compete against some high level athletes.
Xavier Dusell (6’3 G AZ Compass Prep/Team Harden)
I love watching this guy play. He has a great shot and it is so hard to stop due to how often and quickly he is willing to pull it. He shoots the 3 ball as good as anybody in the state and can get hot in an instance. Whenever Dusell gets hot from deep, it is a sight to behold! He’s a great player and very entertaining, I highly recommend checking out some of his games this summer.
