In a semifinal rematch, Southfield Christian took down a gutsy Dollar Bay squad by a score of 55-28. On the other side of the bracket, Frankfort battled for a 44-43 victory over a talented Wyoming Tri-Unity Christian team.
Southfield Christian continued its dominance in Division 4, beating Frankfort by a 63-39 margin. Despite the loss, Frankfort proved they belonged in the title game and showed the talent their team possesses. Southfield Christian is just THAT GOOD. They are a disciplined and well coached team that features next level talent up and down the roster.
MVP
Da’Jion Humphrey (2020, G, Southfield Christian)
Humphrey is one of the top prospects in the state in the class of 2020. What was most impressive about his Final 4 performance was his ability to contribute in so many ways. Humphrey read the ball off the rim and attacked the glass. He averaged 18ppg in the last 2 games as well. Oh yeah, did I mention that he’s one of the best perimeter defenders in Michigan? Humphrey had 16 points and 10 rebounds in the semifinals. In the championship game, he had 20 points, 5 assists, and 5 rebounds.
Honorable Mention
Jon Sanders (2019, G, Southfield Christian)
Sanders was outstanding in the Final 4, as he was all season. He has been one of the fastest rising prospects in Michigan. Sanders had 10 points and 6 rebounds in the semifinals. He was even better in the tirle game, dropping in 19 points, grabbing 3 rebounds, and grabbing 2 steals.
Will Newbold (2019, G, Frankfort)
Newbold was a Final 4 star for Frankfort. In a semifinal win over Wyoming Tri-Unity Christian he had 16 points and 7 rebounds. In the championship loss, he still battled for a team high 17 points.
