Right or wrong, that is kind of the name of the game and especially for Indiana. While we don’t plan on going into discussions on coaches jobs, that doesn’t change the fact that there are openings and it is an interesting storyline.
So, we are trying something new this season with keeping an updated look at those job openings and which are the best among them. We are ranking those schools below and basing it on quite a few different things from roster makeup, size of the school and how good the program is in that class, Sectional makeup and viability to win, as well as administration and how difficult or easy they are to work with.
With that being said, we have completed our look at those schools that we have confirmed that are open and ranked them. This will be changing over the course of the Spring and Summer as these jobs get filled.
High School Coaching Changes:
- Merrillville – Big school, always loaded with talent. Keon Thompson. Enough said.
- Bedford North Lawrence – Program history with some talent on the roster still.
- Michigan City – Not a ton of success lately but a ridiculous amount of talent.
- North Harrison – Young roster with DI talent. Could win quick.
- Franklin Central – Program history with a very young core.
- Bishop Chatard – Good program that needs to get over the hump.
- Loogootee – One of the best teams in Southern Indiana, just couldn’t get it done lately.
- Seymour – Big 4A program but not much success to speak of. Talent on roster?
- Tindley – 1A program that has support and recent success. Need to develop guys.
- Vincennes Lincoln – Good program that has success and some talent. Quick returns?
- Corydon Central – In one of the best Sectionals in the state. Not sure about talent remaining.
- Charlestown – Good 3A program but needs to get back to good. Tough schedule, though.
- Clinton Prairie – Good young talent at a program you can win at. Quick small school success possible.
- Greenfield-Central – Notoriously one of the worst administrations to deal with but usually have talent.
- Boonville – Should have solid senior talent but beyond that, a very difficult Sectional and schedule.
- Mt. Vernon (Posey) – Decent talent but needs time to develop.
- Western Boone – Small school team with talent, mostly multi-sport guys. Moving Sectionals likely.
- North Vermillion – Good talent returning with quite a bit of success recently.
- North Putnam – No program success but some talent on roster. Needs development.
- Triton Central – Graduating talent will leave hole. Usually have some talent each year, though.
- Yorktown – 3A program with very little talent playing in tough, tough Sectional.
- Culver Community – 1A Program in an easier Sectional but talent is sparingly on the roster.
