2020 Rankings Update: Top Point Guards

<p>With the latest edition of Junior Class rankings, we have had some movement up and down the class and added over 20 players to the rankings, bringing the total to 100 total. The group of point guards is one of the weaker position groups in the class. Here's a look at the top point guards in the Junior rankings.</p> <p><strong>Dayvion McKnight, Collins - </strong>McKnight is the best rebounding point guard in Kentucky since Rajon Rondo was playing at Eastern. Dayvion does so much on the floor that he is one of the most impactful players in the state, regardless of class. He continues improving as a shooter and could very likely end up at the high major level. Wherever he commits for college, he's likely to be able to contribute right away.</p> <p><strong>Matt Cromer, South Laurel - </strong>Cromer led South Laurel in scoring and was second in rebounding but his best skill is being a gifted passer. The Cardinals played their best when Matt had the ball in his hands and his true position at the next level is going to be as a point guard. Cromer's basketball IQ is way up there but he's going to have to show college coaches that he can guard his position at the next level before offers start coming his way.</p> <p><strong>Amari Taylor, Tates Creek - </strong>Amari enjoyed a bounce back season with the Commodores after an injury plagued Sophomore year. His averages of 13 points and 3 rebounds doesn't show his full impact on the game for Tates but if Amari is allowed to play with the ball in his hands this spring and summer, coaches will see how he makes those around him better.</p> <p><strong>James Taylor, Pleasure Ridge Park - </strong>Taylor switched schools in the middle of the season but picked up at PRP where he left off at PRP. Averaging 8 points and 2 rebounds for the Panthers helped them to get to the Region semifinals. Taylor is a smart floor general type of guard but his abysmal shooting numbers (36% overall, 1 for 32 from 3 on the season) are going to have to improve if he wants to impress coaches enough to play at the next level.</p> <p><strong>Nik Sorrell, Glasgow - </strong>A two sport star for the Scotties, Sorrell is a force on the basketball court and the baseball diamond. After losing Kobe Brents (transfer) and Jaden Franklin (ACL Tear) for the season, Nik stepped up huge and led the team with 19 points and 9 rebounds per game this year. Sorrell is shifty and athletic. His college potential likely hinges on how well he plays in AAU and how much he'll play with his baseball season also ongoing.</p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p><span style="text-decoration: underline;"><strong>Other Names to Know:</strong></span></p> <ul> <li>Dallas Rufus, Waggener - A good finisher, Dallas has a lot of potential but needs the ball in his hands more than it was at Waggener.</li> <li>Tyren Moore, Male - One of the top shooters in the class, Moore can get hot quicker than anyone in the class.</li> <li>Malachi Corley, Campbellsville - Two sport star already has scholarship offers in basketball and football.</li> <li>Zak Perdew, Bullitt East - After a big season for the Chargers, Perdew is attracting interest from the service academies.</li> <li>Lewis Richards, Ballard - Averaged 10 points and 3 rebounds per game for the high powered Bruins.</li> </ul>
