3A
Morgan Park vs Bogan (St. Laurence Sectional)
You could make a very good argument that these were two of the best teams in Chicago this year and the winner of this game will become the favorite to win 3A in Peoria. Morgan Park has the guards led by Adam Miller and Marcus Watson. Bogan has a huge frontline with star Rashaun Agee.
DePaul Prep vs St. Viator (Grayslake Central Sectional)
Many have been pointing to this game all year. Both teams have been building for this season for years with standout seniors Perry Cowan, Jeremiah Hernandez, and Trey Calvin all in starring roles.
Springfield Southeast vs Lincoln (Springfield Southeast Sectional)
Southeast will get Lincoln on their home floor behind their leader in Chicago State commit Terrion Murdix. The defending state runners up should be in good position here, but Lincoln has done some damage in March in the past. Top uncommitted center Jermaine Hamlin is one to watch as a rim protector.
4A
Curie vs Whitney Young (Proviso West Sectional)
This is the best 4A sectional final by far. Both teams are legit state championship contenders. The winner is probably the favorite at this point. Whitney Young struggled against York. Curie is rolling. They didn’t play during the regular season. Super star power with top 10 prospects DJ Steward, Tyler Beard, Dajuan Gordon, and Ramean Hinton all on the same court.
Bolingbrook vs Oswego East (Aurora East Sectional)
Really like this game! Tons of quality guards in Joseph Yesufu, Tyler Cochran, and Darius Buford for Bolingbrook. They will be countered with Ray J Dennis and Demari Grant (Bolingbrook transfer) for Oswego East. Should be one of the most entertaining games of the night in an up and down contest.
Belleville West vs Danville (East Moline Sectional)
Belleville West survived their first major test against Alton and now the tough road to defend their title continues with Danville. This will come down to who can impose what they want to do best. Belleville West has a clear advantage inside with EJ Liddell and Keith Randolph. Danville has the edge on the perimeter with Sean Houpt, Nathanael Hoskins, and Tevin Smith as a powerful trio.
Simeon vs Homewood Flossmoor (Eisenhower Sectional)
Simeon won back to back games on game winners in the final seconds. Antonio Reeves and AJ Casey did it the last two games. Will they need it again against HF? Homewood Flossmoor upset Bloom to get here. They have a senior led squad with Isaac Stanback, Maurion Scott, and more. These two met earlier in the year at Simeon where the Wolverines won.
Rockford East vs South Elgin (Rockford Sectional)
Rockford East quietly has been among the top 4A teams all season. They have a lot of perimeter scoring pop with Sincere Parker and Christopher Burnell. South Elgin is clicking on all cylinders impressing us on Wednesday night in their semi win behind Vincent Miszkiewcz and Drake Montgomery.
Evanston vs Loyola (Niles North Sectional)
Can Loyola get the game to their pace? They have been successful the last two games at slowing things down while Connor Barrett has stepped up. Evanston has legit title expectations this season behind their four guard quartet of Lance Jones, Jaheim Holden, Jaylin Gibson, and Blake Peters.
Stevenson vs Waukegan (Waukegan Sectional)
Waukegan’s win over Fremd on Wednesday gave them a lot of confidence heading into this final. Stevenson has been overachieving all season. Their star Matt Ambrose can really score it. Waukegan has standout Bryant Brown along with depth and the home court advantage.
