At 6’3, 195-pounds, Holloway is a standout athlete who plays a physical brand of basketball and has the ability to score in a variety of ways.
“I don’t have crazy handles or do any no look passes,” Holloway said. “When the ball is my hands I believe I can score over my opponent at any time.”
Holloway says he has spent the offseason competing with his high school teammates from Colby and says the experience has helped him prepare for the rigors of high school basketball.
“I believe playing those different teams prepares us well for the winter when basketball starts up,” Osborne said. “My junior summer I played MAYB with some guys from other teams and traveled.
“I believe it help me personally to just enjoy the game and just have fun when playing. Playing loose and doing what I do.”
Osborne is off to an 18-0 start this season with one game remaining prior to Regionals. Holloway is currently averaging 12.4 points and seven rebounds per game for a Bulldog team that features a deep and well-rounded squad with several players averaging in double figures. Hollloway has had career highs this season with single game performances of 34 points, 16 rebounds and six blocked shots.
“Our basketball team this year at Osborne is amazing,” Holloway said. “We play hard trust each other with the ball. Every one that gets varsity minutes can drop 20 points in any game. Everybody is a factor and have to stop us to beat us.”
Holloway says his family, friends and coach Jamie Wolters have had the biggest influence on his basketball career to date.
“ My parents bought us a goal when we were little and taught us the game of basketball,” Holloway said. “Jamie Wolters, our head coach has been a big influence to me since I’ve came to Osborne. He puts me wherever he needs me and just lets me play freely.
“That’s what I love most when I’m told to just go play basketball. Coach has showed me the reigns of how the game is suppose to be and keeping a good attitude when times are tough.”
Holloway says his older brother, Reshean Holloway, has also had a big impact on his athletic career.
“Being three years older and stronger he wouldn’t let us win,” Holloway said. “I believe that made me better because I hated losing to him and was determined to get better.”
A standout in 8-man football at Osborne, Holloway made the decision to play the sport at Fort Hays State.
“My commitment to Hays was easy,” he says. “Playing football there for years to come will be a blast. I’m 1000 percent committed to Fort Hays State football.”
