The 10 team event featured some exciting games, highlighted by Alton’s thrilling overtime win over Soldan. There were several great performances from prospects in all classes that caught our eye. Here is a look at the seniors who’s performances stood out the most.
Donovan Clay – Alton
The Redbirds stud senior dropped 24 big points in a nail-biting overtime victory over a quality Soldan team. The long, rangy wing used his impressive wingspan and athleticism to attack and finish at the rim, and Soldan had trouble keeping him in front. He is a more than capable shooter from the outside that can sit down and lock-down on the defensive end. The ceiling is high for Donovan, who is one of the most sought after JUCO prospects in the region. When he is at his best, Alton is one of the most complete teams in the area.
Malik Smith – Alton
Malik is another very talented wing for Alton and came up clutch in the big win Monday night. He wreaked havoc in transition and knocked down some huge threes towards the end of regulation and in overtime. He almost single-handedly put Soldan away with a sequence late in O.T finished a drive with a tough AND-1 and followed up with a triple on the next possession. Another big time JUCO prospect, Malik finished the night with 19 points.
Ryan Torey – Soldan
Ryan was a huge part of Soldan’s comeback run against Alton that sent the game to overtime. He was lights out from beyond the arc burying five three-pointers and finishing with a team high 20 points for the Tigers.
Jesse Little – Soldan
Jesse had a nice game against Alton, finishing with 15 points against some tough, athletic defenders. He played with high-motor and great energy throughout and showed a versatile offensive skill-set. He is quick off the bounce and is a capable shooter from mid-range out to beyond the arc.
Courtland Soll – St. Louis Christian Academy
The clutch senior guard played a solid game, as per usual, and was one of several double-digit scorers for the Cougars. He had moments where he showed sparks of some high-level college moves. He has a strong frame, great burst, and can really get downhill in transition and can finish through contact. He’s an unselfish, team first guy on a very talented team.
Keyyaun Batchman – St. Louis Christian Academy
You read this right, the Chaminade stand-out has found himself a new home as a Cougar. Keyyaun joins a loaded SLCA team after averaging 25 points, 8 rebounds, 8 assists while shooting lights out from deep for the Red Devils in the first half of the season. The physical lefty is a two-way player who had 10 points in the win over Granite City, and you can take it to the bank that his output will increase as he gets comfortable with his new team.
Deavis Johnson – Cahokia
The undersized forward had a team high 20 points in a hotly contested loss to U-City Monday. He was the strongest, most physical player on the floor and brought great energy for Cahokia. He plays strong on the block and offensive glass and has very nice touch on his jump hook.
Zidane Moore – Granite City
Zidane is the leading scorer for the Warriors at 14 points per game and is shooting a blistering 57% from beyond the arc. He is the clear leader of the team and is aggressive on the offensive end. He is not overly athletic, but is extremely crafty as a ball-handler and finisher and is a threat to pull-up from deep anywhere inside the volleyball line.

- Jackson Makoi – SLCA
