This 6’6” small forward has excellent size for position along with plus athleticism. Fletcher showed his burst off the bounce where he got to the rack with a quick first step at the Highland Shootout over the weekend. Played above the rim with a huge alley-oop along with a dunk late where he went around Liddell for a slam. Fletcher only shot 2-7 from beyond the arc which is usually one of his strengths. If he wants to lock in we believe Fletcher can be an elite defensive prospect. His stat line as 17 points (7-13 FG). So much upside here!
Fletcher told us the latest with his recruitment.
“I am hearing a lot from Michigan State, Mizzou, Ohio State, Purdue, and UCLA.”
He said those are the schools which he feels are making him the biggest priority. The junior says he is looking to set up his potential first official visit to see Michigan State which could come as early as February. What stands out about the Spartans?
“Coach Izzo stays in touch. Their lead assistant coach stays in touch every day before games and practices.”
What schools would he like to get out to maybe catch a game this year?
“Lousiville, Mizzou, Ohio State, and UCLA.”
Chris Mack from Louisville was at Highland to see them play against Belleville West at the Highland Shootout. What is his relationship with them like at this point?
“I have a good relationship. They text me every day and sometimes text me surprising me. Saying good things before school.”
Ohio State is in contact heavy too.
“Yea they text me every day and are on my head.”
Mizzou is a local school that has made him a priority.
“I have a great relationship with them. Coach Cuonzo is a great guy. He stays in touch. He wants the best for me as not only a basketball player, but as a man.”
Illinois has made a serious push for his services as well over the last year.
“Coach Underwood stays in touch and texts me every day. He really wants me.”
Fletcher spoke about his timeline for a decision.
“Probably just wait until after Peach Jam and AAU to see what more options I have and who is interested in me.”
What will be the key factors in a decision?
“If they really want me, playing time, academics, and a great relationship with the players.”
