Most Outstanding Prospects: Lincoln Way East vs Naperville Central

PrepHoopsIllinois caught a couple of conference teams on Friday night in Naperville Central and Lincoln Way East. Each team has had a tough start to the season, but both have prospects with bright futures at the college level. It was a really fun game that was tight throughout. One point game at the half and that continued all the way through until late. Lincoln Way East would ultimately pull away getting the road win 59-55. Here are our Most Outstanding Prospects: Lincoln Way East vs Naperville Central.

PG Jhei-R Jones (Lincoln Way East – 2021)

Jones was not one of the prospects we were looking forward to seeing in this game, but the sophomore point guard was a very pleasant surprise. Quick twitched point guard who can really score the ball. Burst with the rock in his hands. Couple acrobatic layups and proved to be an adequate shooter as well hitting threes and mid-range jumpers. Jones went for 18 points.

SG Julian Barr (Lincoln Way East – 2019)

Barr is an unsigned senior two guard that we are big fans of. Scoring guard who we have mostly seen as a spot up shooter, but in this game he created his shot off the bounce. It was still the jumper though with one dribble pull ups and step backs. Scored on a quick flash to the ball in the lane. Also sealed the game with a pair of free throws. It wasn’t a wow game from him, but he showed why we think he is a no doubt D2 prospect in his 11 point outing.

C Nate Seputis (Lincoln Way East – 2020)

The most intriguing reason for checking out this game was us wanting to evaluate Seputis against the Naperville Central’s big man Chris Conway. They are the #2 and #3 centers in the 2020 class. Seputis didn’t play at all in the first quarter and saw just a few minutes in the third quarter. While in there he flashed the ability that makes him a D1 prospect. Mid-range jumper is the name of his game. Connected on a pair along with grabbing a handful of rebounds. Would like to see him be more impactful and physical down low. He had 4 points.

SF Lemone Lampley (Lincoln Way East – 2019)

Lampley is a long and lanky 6’5” small forward who showed potential on a silky smooth mid-range game. Also scored on a post touch with a right handed hook shot. Small college prospect who had 8 points.

PF Chris Conway (Naperville Central – 2020)

Conway is a post prospect that has elevated his stock over the last year. This 6’9” center has length, mobility, and skill. Like Seputis, Conway likes to operate in the mid-range. He opened the game with a 15-foot pick/pop shot. Hit a couple other jumpers including a sweet turnaround fade away. Soft touch on his shot. Also finished with a quick spin on the block. Defensively he uses his length to block and alter shots. Conway had 10 points and 7 rebounds.

SF Cameron Doughtery (Naperville Central – 2020)

Doughtery continues to see his stock rise each time we see him. The big small forward is a skilled scorer with a crafty game. He finished around the hoop on multiple quick moves, reverse layups, and high/low dishes. Excels using the euro step in the lane. Quality rebounder on the wing. Doughtery scored 15 points in an impressive outing.

PG Payton Thorne (Naperville Central – 2019)

Thorne is a senior point guard who can really shoot the basketball. That is exactly what he did in this game as he was straight money from three off the catch over and over. Mixed in a runner and straight line drive, but his value at the next level is in his shooting. Scored 18 points.

G Samuel Jackson (Naperville Central – 2021)

This guard is most likely going to be a football prospect at the next level, but the super athletic guard rebounds really well for his height and leaves an impact on the game with his energy level.
