G Mike Hodges (Schaumburg)
This combo guard was outstanding getting in the lane where he made plays for himself and others. Scored on several drives converting with runners. Also showed he was more than willing to get others involved with his passing making sound decisions including finding his brother multiple times. He had 26 points, 7 rebounds, and 6 dimes.
SG Andrew Stewart (TF South)
Stewart had an impressive outing against Schaumburg. The senior scoring guard is a sound perimeter shooter that was hot shooting in this game. He connected on a pull up three and another off movement. Also showed he could manipulate a ball screen before hitting a floater. Stewart had 17 points.
SF Elijah Watson (TF South)
Watson is a long and rangy forward that flashed during the summer. He is a role player that presents developmental upside. The senior can shoot it from mid-range with balanced form. Mixes in finishes in the paint with his quickness around the hoop. Watson went for 15 points.
PG Christian Davis (St. Ignatius)
Davis is a point guard that has been up and down throughout his career. Played well against Glenbard East in their opening round game at the Jack Tosh Tournament. Davis is more of a scoring point at this stage using his shifty ball handling to get in the lane for floaters. Recorded 20 points.
F Trevon Jones (Richards)
Jones is a 6’3” forward that is most effective playing in the paint. He isn’t overly projectable, but this football player brings that mentality on the hardwood as well. He uses his physicality to finish through his man with power in the paint. The Richards senior has a tremendous knack for scoring around bigger guys. He is a sound rebounder on both ends of the floor. Jones went for 19 points and 7 boards.
PF Frank Siegen (Glenbrook North)
Siegen is your traditional back to the basket post. He has quality footwork, soft touch around the hoop, and a feel for scoring down low. Likes to go to a right handed hook shot. Siegen also rebounds well in his area. He had 10 points and 6 rebounds.
PF Brian Johnson (Glenbrook North)
Johnson is a stretch four that will find a nice home at the small college level. He didn’t have his best game here as he struggled shooting going only 1-7 from the land of three. In the paint he had a runner and right handed hook. Overall like him at the D3 level. He had 7 points.
SG Matthew Rush (Hinsdale Central)
Rush is one of the better pure shooters in the senior class. He only made one three, but displayed his set shot from mid-range as well. Liked how he mixed it up with some transition scores and a runner. Also was more active defensively than we had seen in the past. Rush’s line was 14 points, 3 rebounds, 4 assists, and 3 steals.
SG Essam Hamwi (Maine South)
Hamwi is another sharp shooter that is attracting small college looks. Sound perimeter sniper that moves well without the ball to get open. Big time catch and shoot threat. Couple nice passes in this one as well. He had 16 points and 4 dimes.
SF Cody Mitchell (St. Charles East)
Mitchell started out on fire for St. Charles East! This 6’7” forward presents great size. He can play both on the perimeter and as a small ball four at the small college level. Opened with a three from the top of the key and later drilled one in the pick/pop. Clean looking stroke and he shoots it with confidence. In the paint he went to a hook shot and showed he could handle it with a straight line slash. Skilled forward finished with 19 points and 9 rebounds.
G Nate Ortiz (St. Charles East)
Ortiz is a combo guard that has scoring pop. Plus three point shooter as he went 3-4 from deep. That is what he has been known to do throughout his career. Comfortable pulling up from three. Also had a strong straight line take for a bucket. Ortiz went for 15 points (5-8 FG).
