PG Marshawn Rayford (Palatine)
This Palatine 5’10” point guard is a compact guard who can shoot it a little with a lefty stroke. Pesky on ball defender. He had 6 points.
PG Ernest Neal (Metea Valley)
Neal is another smaller guard at 5’11” who impacted the game defensively along with be a capable offensive threat scoring on a three and a put backs. He had 9 points.
SG Michael Pasquella (Lake Forest)
Liked what this 6’1” shooting guard brought to the table. Crafty with the ball in his hands. Got on the glass for multiple scores on the offensive boards. He also proved to be an adequate passer. Scored 15 points.
PG Jake Fisher (Lake Forest)
Fisher is a 6’0” senior point guard who plays with a high motor. Really good pull up jump shooter that hit them consistently from all over the floor. He went for 12 points.
PG Donovan Slater (St. Laurence)
Slater is a thicker point guard who can flat out shoot the basketball! The senior 5’9” guard drilled an array of triples both pulling up and off the catch. He isn’t overly projectable, but the kid can shoot!
PG Finn Walsh (St. Laurence)
Walsh is a fast point guard who pushes the ball with his speed and can get to the rim. Upside because of how fast he is, but needs to cut down on the turnovers. He had 11 points.
PG Connor Fritzsche (Nazareth)
Fritzshe stands at 5’11” at the lead guard spot. He drained jumpers from all over the floor. Was at his best from mid-range. Little loose with handles. He had 13 points.
PF Darnell Hanson (Nazareth)
Hanson is a 6’5” power forward who has a thick body. The undersized post is a tough area rebounder. He was very good getting on the offensive boards for put backs. Hanson scored 11 points.
SG Heze Trotter (Schaumburg)
Trotter is an athletic two guard that is best in the open floor. He is a quick twitched athlete with bounce. Scored 9 points.
SG James Drummond (TF South)
Drummond is a Whitney Young transfer who has a chance to play at the small college or JUCO level. Size on the perimeter at 6’3” and the lefty can slash with long strides to the rim. He scored 8 points.
PF Sam Walsh (York)
Walsh was good in York’s opening win. This 6’5” power forward is a skilled low post presence with good footwork around the hoop along with a soft touch. Put himself on the radar as a quality small college prospect.
PG Markus Byrd (Rockford Auburn)
Byrd stands at only 5’9”, but man can this kid shoot the ball from deep. He was on fire connecting on 6-11 from beyond the arc. Plus spot up shooter that has a quick and concise release. Also was a pesky defender grabbing four steals. He scored 24 points.
SG Charles Parse (Hinsdale Central)
His stat line of 4 points and 5 boards isn’t going to blow anyone away, but this 6’3” two guard has positional size and defended well. Moves laterally and can check multiple spots. Gritty glue guy.
SF Breion Hill (Marian Catholic)
This 6’3” long and angular senior was somewhat known prior to Hinsdale Central, but his play there especially defensively put him firmly on the small college map. Hill is a role player on this team and at will be at the next level, but he is an elite defender. Hill had five blocks including multiple on jump shots. Can switch onto almost any position on the floor. Caused havoc defensively! Hill had 6 points, 6 rebounds, and 5 blocks.
PG Tahir Thompson (Lincoln Park)
Thompson had created some buzz earlier in the month with his play against Whitney Young. The 6’1” point guard has some scoring pop with a thicker build. Capable shooter.
C Tommy Halatek (Lockport)
This was our first opportunity to evaluate the 6’7” center and man did he put in a workman like effort. The big bodied five man has a soft touch around the hoop and was insanely good at sealing his man off for scores. Understands how to use his body to his advantage to score in the paint. Big time area rebounder grabbing them and a high rate. This small college sleeper had 20 points and 19 rebounds.
PG Jake Karli (Lockport)
Karli is a 6’1” senior point guard that is a quality passer. Sneaky with the ball in his hands getting layups and scoop shots to fall. Went for 16 points.
SG Matt Hatzopoulos (Lockport)
The Lockport 6’0” combo guard is a scrappy player that can shoot it some off the catch. He went for 13 points.
SG Lucas Heflen (St. Charles North)
Came away impressed with what this 6’3” two guard brought to the table as a prospect. Size for position and is a sound shooter from three as he connected on a trio of them. This senior made a few nice passes in the lane as well on his way to scoring 14 points.
G Tyler Czerniak (St. Charles North)
Lefty guard can really stroke it from deep. The 6’0” shooting guard drained multiple of them trying to keep his team in the game on his way to 9 points.
SG Payton Amm (Pontiac)
The Pontiac senior 6’4” two guard can really shoot the rock. Played some on and off the ball, but it was his ability to connect from three that impressed as he netted 17 points.
SF Bradyn Kilby (Chatham Glenwood)
As much as we are out on the road constantly there will always be players that fall through the cracks. That is what happened with Kilby. This was the first time we have evaluated the Illinois-Springfield commit and man was he impressive. At 6’6” with long arms and strength he presents a mismatch nightmare for opponents on the high school level. Clean looking stroke from three. Also displayed athletic pop with an alley-oop off an out of bounds play along with another big dunk. Brought toughness and grit on the interior with several tough offensive rebound put backs. He had 17 points.
