SF Colin O’Rourke (Plainfield North)
We have been big fans of this skilled combo forward since we saw him this summer. He is at his best working out of the mid-post area where he is an elite mid-range shooter as well as an excellent passer finding shooters, cutters, and bigs in the high/low. Was very impressed with how he fought tooth and nail on the glass on both ends. O’Rourke had 10 points and 11 rebounds.
PG Jamere Hill (Joliet West)
Hill was impressive for Joliet West. This 6’1” junior point guard is a quick and angular lead guard. Slick slasher that got in the lane and lived at the charity stripe. Pushed in transition where he can be a bit wild at times. Capable shooter as he hit a couple threes along with 15 footer. He had 24 points in their second round game.
SG Ramean Hinton (Curie)
The state’s #5 2020 prospect is a high-motor wing that plays with an all-out passion for the game. He opened with a six point barrage on athletic layups and a mid-range jumper. As the game went on he extended that shot out to beyond the three point arc. Overall he was super effective with his jumper which at times can be streaky. Also was a major factor on the glass clearing the defensive boards and getting put backs. Hinton had 20 points.
C Connor Linke (St. Charles North)
Linke had the game of his career in their opening round win against Danville. It wasn’t quite that dominant of an effort against Simeon, but he showed some qualities you have to like. First is his size at 6’9” 215 pounds he can be a legit five at the next level. At times he is a bit mechanical, but he displayed good footwork and touch in the paint. Also had a reverse layup off a rebound. Defensively and on the boards is probably where he is best at. Rim protector with his length. High level rebounder on both ends. He had 8 points and 14 rebounds.
C Joshua Ivory (Peoria Manual)
Ivory is a big bodied five man that plays to his strengths. He eats up space on the interior and has soft hands catching passes in traffic. Also displayed a right handed hook shot. Ivory had 12 points.
F Ryan Weir (Pontiac)
Weir is a tough kid that isn’t the most projectable. The thick bodied forward plays physical inside and gets to the foul line at a high rate. He had 15 points and 4 rebounds.
SG Dante Maddox (Bloom)
There is something about when I see Maddox at Pontiac he brings his A game. Did it again just like last year. The 6’3” two guard is a big time shooter from deep that can drill them equally effective off the catch or pulling up. Pure mechanics and has a knack for coming up clutch in key momentum swing times of the game. Also got to the rim including an outstanding straight line drive that he finished with his off hand. Also closed the night out with a beautiful bounce pass across the court for an open three. Maddox had 26 points in their quarterfinal win.
SG Keshawn Williams (Bloom)
Williams took home the AC Williamson Award for most outstanding player of the tournament. The Bloom thin and rangy guard flashed in the championship game. He is an explosive athlete that has a lot of offensive scoring pop. Drilled a corner three as well as a stop and pop mid-range jumper. Also thought he showed well as a passer with several nice dishes that led to buckets. Williams had 10 points in a title game loss to Curie.
C Martice Mitchell (Bloom)
This 6’10” center is one of the top big men in the 2020 class. He has tremendous physical tools and athleticism. Mitchell has a nice skill level for a player of his size. He connected on an array of mid-range jumpers along with taking his man off the dribble from the high-post. Mismatch problem! Also showed off his athleticism blocking shots and slamming home an alley-oop on an out of bounds play. Mitchell had 13 points.
PG Donovan Newby (Bloom)
Newby is a rock solid guard that plays within himself for the most part. Strong with the basketball and is a capable three point shooter. With so many weapons on his team he is focused on getting them involved first.
PG Luke Lehnen (Chatham Glenwood)
The Glenwood quarterback proved he could be a small college player on the hardwood if he chose to go that route. Lehnen is a thicker built point guard who can really shoot the ball nailing four triples en route to 15 points.
PG Moory Woods (Alton)
Woods is the unsung player on this Alton squad. He is an angular guard that makes an impact on both ends of the floor. In transition is where he shines with the way he converts at the cup. Woods came up with a huge 19 points in their semifinal win.
PG Ky’Lun Rivers (Alton)
Rivers is an angular combo guard that does most of his damage in the open floor. Fast both with the ball and running the floor as a wing finisher. He had 12 points in Alton’s semifinal win.
