Coral Glades was on the road at Cypress Bay in a Class 9A non-district game Wednesday night.

Here are 5 Takeaways from Weston:

Better late than never

Cypress Bay trailed visiting Coral Glades for most of the game until taking over in the final period. The Lightning trailed 14-8 after one, 25-21 at the half and 37-35 going to the fourth, before winning the final stanza 17-5 for a 52-42 victory. Coach Jason Looky’s Lightning are 9-1 since Christmas with the lone loss coming in overtime at Piper.

Milestone for Krivitzkin

Cypress Bay senior guard Tyler Krivitzkin became the first player in school history to score 1,000 points in a career. Krivitzkin hit the milestone on a 3-pointer with 2:50 remaining in the third quarter and finished in double-digits with 10 points. Krivitzkin will be taking a visit to Oglethorpe University in Georgia this weekend.

"We’ve got a bunch of Division 3s that are interested in him," Looky said. "He would like to stay in state, try to play Division 2."

Learning season

Coral Glades has a very young squad with just two seniors on the team. "We’re young," Jaguars coach Nicholas Carr said. "As a first-year varsity coach it’s an experience for me but it is an experience for them mostly, learning that you can’t get down on yourself by every single play. But overall, they’re learning." Two sophomores [player_tooltip player_id="1068632" first="Anthony" last="Ruiz"] (5-10, guard) and Kenneth Turner (6-6, 220, PF) stood out for Coral Glades. Ruiz is quick and scored a team-high 9 points. Turner added 6.

13-5 despite transfers

This Cypress Bay squad is a different team from last season. Despite three key departures to transfer, the Lightning are sitting with a 13-5 record. Gone are Isiah Kirby, who transferred back to Sagemont; Kenny Anderson, who left for Boyd Anderson; and [player_tooltip player_id="955612" first="Brandon" last="Garcia"], who moved on to Somerset Pines.

Brikat, Kattan provide boost

Coach Looky credited 2019 Amir Brikat and 2022 [player_tooltip player_id="1062420" first="Noah" last="Kattan"] with providing a lift post-Christmas.

Brikat finished with 10 points, all in the second half, Wednesday night. Kattan drilled three 3-pointers, a night after hitting four vs. Piper. 2020 [player_tooltip player_id="828149" first="Isaiah" last="Quinteros"] led Cypress Bay offensively with 12 points.
