Ultimate South Showcase Team Power Rankings
BARTLETT, TN-
Eighteen boys basketball teams walked in and out of the Bartlett gymnasium over the weekend with differing results. Forget the previous successes. Toss out the season records or the reputations. This list is ONLY rating the teams from 1 to 18 on their performance at the Ultimate South Showcase. Follow @UltimatePreps_ on Twitter to support this and future events.
-
Hamilton Heights – Mentally tough beyond measure. Jordan Rawls was nails all weekend. Samson Ruzhentsev is “Duke-recruit good.”
-
Memphis East – The elephant in the room only lost by fouling a jump shooter in the final second. Narrowly better than Bartlett on the weekend.
-
Bartlett – Split a pair of games and outplayed HHCA for two quarters. Missing two starters to injury.
-
Raleigh-Egypt – Fast. Fast. Fast. The balanced handles 1-5 make them an impossible team to defend.
-
Jonesboro (AR) – Great wings. They captured a single win and left the state.
-
Briarcrest Christian – Wonderfully versatile offense full of skilled athletes.
-
Haywood – A little chaotic, though Haywood can get off the ground for any rebound. Fun team.
-
Christian Brothers – Structured. Disciplined. Mostly guards.
-
Springdale Prep (MD) – Struggled offensively, losing two games.
-
Arlington – Defeated a feisty Clarksville Northeast team thanks to Sam Wiseman’s free throw prowess.
-
Oxford (MS) – Cohesive team without a star.
-
Clarksville Northeast – Desperately missing the offensive star that is Alec Kegler. The defense is very, very good but scoring is a gamble.
-
Lausanne Collegiate – Missing two starters to injury and it shows offensively. Expect a different team by February.
-
Holly Springs (MS) – Beat TPA 67-65 with 26 fourth quarter points.
-
Tipton-Rosemark – Many weapons. Very athletic top to bottom.
-
Dyersburg – Small in the frontcourt. Not very swift with the ball.
-
Fayette-Ware – Scrambled defensively. Not enough scoring threats beyond 10′. Much of their offense is breaking down defenders, but they are merely ok at that.
-
Germantown – Played one quarter with fire and then tapered off with one or two exceptions.
