In this article I take a look at six seniors in the 2019 class who are unsigned and could make an impact at the next level.
2019 6’1 David Penny | Middleburg Academy
The 2019 lead guard of Middleburg had it going from the beginning of the game on Saturday against Riverdale Baptist. He started the game with two nice alley oops. Penny displayed his great vision and passing ability all game long. He got passed defenders with crafty moves and his go to behind the back move. He can also score the ball, on Saturday he finished with 15 points. Low major schools should be all over the 6’1 lead guard.
2019 6’9 Joel Kabimba | Middleburg Academy
The 2019 6’9 post-man was the one catching the alley oops from David. Joel has the look of a division one prospect and plays like one too. He has excellent post moves, finishes hard at the rim, rebounds on both sides of the ball and blocks shots on defense. He finished with 19 points Saturday and this is another prospect that low to mid majors should be all over.
2019 6’3 Callum Baker | Bishop Walsh
Bishop Walsh rode the hot hand of Baker when Georgetown Prep creeped back into the game late in the second half. Baker was knocking down big time shots from all over the court for Bishop Walsh. He was attacking the rim and getting by defenders and also drawing fouls which allowed him to get a lot of points from the free throw line. He brings a lot of energy to the floor when he is on the court which helped his team when they were tight. He had 18 points on Saturday in a win against Georgetown Prep.
2019 6’9 Olivier Nkamhou | Bishop Walsh
Right now Olivier is listed as a 6’9 210 forward and he played like it on Saturday. He is a big guy that was powering through a Georgetown Prep team that did not really have a lot of options to slowing him down. He brings toughness and a lot of energy to the court which allows him to do multiple things on both sides of the ball.
2019 DeJean Desire | Georgetown Prep
Desire finished with 8 points with half of those points coming from the free thrown line. Right now he is listed at 6’6 and 200 pounds that has a good amount of muscle to him. He was competing hard around the basket and holding his own against the big men from Bishop Walsh.
2019 Miles Somerville | Georgetown Prep
If it wasn’t for Miles, Geogetown Prep doesn’t come back and tie the game with Bishop Walsh late in the 4th quarter. He made some HUGE shots and had the ultimate confidence while doing it. He had five three pointers and finished with a total of 19 points. This kid plays with a lot of heart and will do whatever it takes to help his team win.
