When Stacey Terry transferred into Battlefield High as a junior, he was known for being a pass-first guard – setting up his teammates for easy buckets. He was splitting time with the previous point guard as he developed at the varsity level.
Following the season, he ran with Higher Level through the AAU circuit and worked on becoming more of a scoring threat.
Terry is a senior now, and the work has paid off.

The crafty guard has proved that he can put the ball through the nylon in multiple ways, pulling up off the dribble for a jumper, blowing past his defender to finish at the cylinder and occasionally knocking down a 3-pointer. Terry credited his early success in the 2018-2019 season to the time he spent in the gym over the offseason.
“It was more just spending time in the gym,” Terry said. “Working on new moves and different scenarios that I could come up with either in my head or from my Dad.”
Thus far, Terry is averaging around 20 points per game and has definitely opened up his opportunities to play at the next level. Although he hasn’t heard from programs yet, he has the skill and explosiveness that transfers well to the college ranks.
With Battlefield standing at a 5-1 record, Terry recognized that, as a point guard, he is fortunate to have a ton of talent around him.
“It makes the game a lot easier,” Terry said. “If you drive, you still have guys that can shoot the ball. Then you have your bigs, and if you get in trouble, they are right there to help you out.”
As the season moves on, Terry will be a point guard to keep an eye on.
