The unsigned senior, who hopes to emerge from sleeper status this year, spoke about his overall game and goals among other topics during a recent interview with Prep Hoops.
PH: For those who haven’t seen you play, how would you describe your overall game?
SJ: “I’m really a pass-first point guard. I just want to involve my teammates. I’m strong, and I can get to the bucket.”
PH: I noticed you had 7 rebounds in your win vs. Roosevelt. Would you say that’s an underrated part of your game?
SJ: “Yeah, but I’m a big guard. I’m in the weight room all the time so it’s easy for me to get boards. I just crash when the shot goes up.”
PH: What are you working on right now?
SJ: “My shot. Basically the mid range.”
PH: How are your grades?
SJ: “I had a 2.8 last quarter, but they’re going to be better. I’m going to get them up this quarter.”
PH: What do you think is an underrated part of your overall game?
SJ: “My ball-handling. I’m waking them up this year though.”
PH: What are your goals?
SJ: “Go to college and win states this year.”
PH: What do you think you can bring to a college program?
SJ: “I can distribute the ball without committing too many turnovers.”
