This version is our full-week breakdown with games from Monday to Saturday. This week I watched Ben Davis vs. Brownsburg and then caught the Blackford vs. Elwood game on film.
Jalen Windham – 2019 – 6’5 SF – Ben Davis
Windham was off in the game against Ben Davis. He took probably 6-8 3-pointers and only made one. Didn’t look comfortable against the defense of Brownsburg. Lengthy wing and can make the deep ball but just struggled a bit in this one. Committed to Georgia State. – 6 points
Dawand Jones – 2019 – 6’9 C – Ben Davis
Jones sat for the first quarter but then in final three quarters he came in and dominated. Jones is a huge body and once he gets position down he will pretty much score every single time. Great footwork and for his size he has really good endurance. Low major prospect for basketball and a high major prospect for football. – 29 points, 11 rebounds
Jeff Clayton – 2019 – 6’7 PF – Ben Davis
Clayton was interesting to me in this game. He was pretty active around the basket but just didn’t really end up having a huge impact on the game. He scored a bit but wasn’t that effective on the boards like I thought that he should have been. Could be a nice piece that ends up at a small school in the area and develops. – 8 points, 2 rebounds
Jaylen Jennings – 2019 – 6’7 PF – Ben Davis
There is a bit of potential here with Jennings. You can tell he’s super athletic but is very raw still. Just a little slow reacting to the plays that are happening. Jennings could be a guy that lands at a JUCO and develops into a solid player. It will take a lot of molding, but he hasn’t been playing basketball for very long. Transferred from Avon. – 2 points, 4 rebounds
Cameron Alford – 2019 – 6′ PG – Brownsburg
Alford was solid, yet unspectacular. The continued knock is his shooting ability, and is going to be the thing that keeps him from reaching his ceiling. Passed up multiple shooting opportunities that were open. He even struggled with his free throws in the game. Quick hands and will be able to attack the basket at a high level, just is very one dimensional. Needs to shoot more, especially on those wide open shots. – 22 points, 7 steals, 4 rebounds
Pierce Thomas – 2021 – 6’5 SG – Brownsburg
Thomas might be one of the most athletic players that I have ever seen play the game. He can jump out of the gym and has a developing jumper that is still being worked on. Looked solid form wise tonight when he shot it. Good instincts for a sophomore and he is going to continue to get better. HM ceiling. – 12 points
Reis Thomas – 2019 – 6’3 SF – Brownsburg
Thomas is one of those guys who could score at the basket if he wanted to, but he doesn’t really look to do so all that often. A very good defender, he is going to be a key defensive guy who gives very little offense. Physical, tough, and strong, Thomas gives you all the qualities you want in a defensive stopper that can contribute a little on the offensive end. – 6 points, 4 rebounds
Malek Edmonds – 2020 – 6’5 PF – Brownsburg
Edmonds was in foul trouble during this one but played pretty solidly. Didn’t get many jumpers off but was able to clean up the glass. Nice touch on his shot and can get them to fall. Would like to see him be a little more aggressive so I can really see what he can bring to the table. – 9 points, 4 rebounds
Ryan Wiggins – 2019 – 6’5 PF – Brownsburg
Wiggins didn’t do anything offensively in this one. He was open quite a few times in the corner, but failed to take shots. Athletically, he can’t matchup with Ben Davis and I think that is going to be one of the things that holds him back. Decent shooter but not nearly the player he could be. Small schools should take a look at him for a stretch four man. – 6 rebounds
Richard Lang – 2020 – 6’10 C – Brownsburg
Lang played just a little bit in this one. Showed a jumper that he looks to take more than he should. Pretty active on the boards and threw down two dunks in this one. Played some good minutes, but he is just really thin and skill hasn’t developed completely yet. Interesting guy who has a bit of potential for sure. – 4 points
Luke Brown – 2021 – 6′ CG – Blackford
Brown is playing at a level that is just so much less advanced than he is. He’s extremely quick with the ball and really likes to push it hard up the floor. Still a little thin but he has room on the frame to fill out. Good vision and pretty willing passer. Doesn’t need any room to get a shot off and can get hot in a hurry. He’s going to pretty much score as much as he wants to and it won’t really ever be a fluke. This was one of the performances of the year. – 55 points, 8 rebounds, 6 assists, 6 steals
Brandon Stroble – 6’3 SG – Blackford
Stroble is a tall guard who really likes to shoot the ball. Pretty long on the defensive end and can stand to gain a little bit of muscle. Little bit slow on his feet and it doesn’t seem like his motor is that high for a kid who needs to be the second best player every night. Will get beat off the dribble by smaller guards. – 25 points, 4 rebounds
Seth Mireles – 2019 – 5’10 – PG – Elwood
Mireles is the best player for a bad Elwood team. Could be JV depth at the next level in the right system. Can shoot it with pressure in his face and is pretty quick. Tends to be a little careless with the ball that leads to turnovers. Showed a turnaround jumper that most players can’t pull off. – 11 points, 6 rebounds
