6’1 So Anton Brookshire – Kickapoo
The super-sophomore put on a show against an excellent North Little Rock team. He single-handedly kept the Chiefs in it dropping 30 points on 6 made three-pointers. As an underclassmen, he operates with supreme poise and confidence and handles the ball like a seasoned vet. There is not moment too big for the uber-talented guard who can create scoring opportunities in every way imaginable.
6’4 Sr Kylon Mccollugh – North Little Rock
Kickapoo had no answer for the athletic wing from North Little Rock. He got to the rim at will with a strong rip and go, attacked the offensive glass, and multiple times got out in transition for contested finishes. He also showed some range with a catch and shoot three from the wing. The senior led the way for the Wildcats with 21 points on the night.
6’7 Sr Keylan Boone – Tulsa Memorial
Where do we even start with Keylan? It was a treat to watch him play Friday night. He possesses high major length and athleticism, which is part of the reason he is committed to Oklahoma State. He is a supreme play-maker who can score in every was possible. He drilled back to back threes, tough pull-up jumpers, finished through contact at the rim off the bounce, and worked out in the post to top if off. He led the Chargers with 24 points in their win over Republic.
6’9 Sr Kalib Boone – Tulsa Memorial
Yes, they are related. Yes, they look alike. Yes he is going to be a Cowboy as well. However, there are some differences. While Keylan is a guard with post skills, Kalib makes a living inside but flashes guard skills himself when he needs to. For example, he got a steal, went coast to coast and got to the rim with a slick behind the back dribble and finish. Republic had no answer for Kalib on the block or on the boards and he shook the entire gym with a huge dunk in the second half. Not to mention, at 6’9 he can step out and shoot the 3 (but that’s a tease for tomorrow’s story).
5’9 So Drew McMillin – Republic
Ok, based on the eye test young Drew was over-matched against an imposing Tulsa Memorial team. WRONG! The sophomore guard from Republic was absolutely fearless and is tough as nails. He has a smooth stroke from the outside but what was most impressive was his willingness and ability to get in the lane and finish against a team loaded with 6’6″+ D1 athleticism. He finished with a team high 20 points. Drew definitely has our attention.
6’4 Sr Broc Smith – Republic
A Drury commit himself, Broc was not intimidated by the Tulsa Memorial group either. Quite honestly, had a few of his “in and out” bunnies fallen in the first half he may have had a prolific scoring night. Despite a slow start, he was a catalyst in a late rally for the Tigers. He is very adept at curling screens and scoring at the rim. He buried a big three pointer, took a charge, had multiple steals, and a huge “And 1” finish during the late run. He finished with 17.
6’5 Sr Tavon Graham – Confluence
Tavon was the loan bright spot in an otherwise rough night for Confluence. The senior forward continues to be an animal in the paint. He dropped another 20 piece, all around the rim or at the line. I stopped counting at 9 offensive rebounds. He finished the night with another huge double-double.
6’3 Sr Winston Quinn – Glendale
The Falcons hosted the Ozark Mountain Shootout, but senior guard Winston Quinn gave Confluence a rude welcome to Springfield. He took over the game right from the tip. He buried 5 three-pointers on the night. He was also his own highlight reel with some impressive dump-off dimes around the rim and a breakaway jam. He led Glendale with 28 points in their big victory.
6’6 Sr Tyem Freeman – Parkview
Matched up against an excellent West Memphis squad, the Missouri State signee had a big game for the Vikings. West Memphis had a hard time stopping Freeman from getting to the rim where he was able to use his strength and ball control to finish with contact. He had 21 points on the night and made some critical defensive plays down the stretch including a huge block that would make Mutumbo proud.
6’0 Jr Nakai Johnson – Parkview
The junior guard for the Vikings burned up the nets Friday night. If he had any room whatsoever to get his shot off, he let it fly and cashed in 6 three-pointers in route to a 20 point effort. He is a big-time shooter to keep an eye on moving forward this season.
6’6 Jr Chris Moore – West Memphis
The Blue Devil big man battled foul trouble all night, but that did not stop him from posting a 16 point, 16 rebound double-double. He has a strong frame, is extremely athletic, and was probably the most physically imposing prospect in the gym this weekend. The PF who holds multiple high-major offers, opened the game with a jaw-dropping alley-oop throw-down. He was unstoppable on the low block and offensive glass.
5’5 Sr Cavin Paige – West Memphis
The hard to guard senior PG for the Blue Devils holds offers from D2 Southern Arkansas and high-level Juco’s like Three Rivers and Holmes. Parkview absolutely could not keep him out of the lane and he made them pay with a huge 22 point 11 assist performance that was instrumental in the West Memphis victory.
