Maple Grove vs Spring Lake Park
The Skinny: Spring Lake Park is undefeated after beating Osseo and Spring Lake Park, is Maple Grove next? The Crimson hope to knock SLP from the unbeatens, and the rankings!
Top Match-Up: Future NDSU golfer Nate Adams and his 16 a game vs SLP leading scorer Blake Remme
Top Prospect: Junior Blake Remme of Spring Lake Park
Prediction: Maple Grove wins by five.
St. Thomas Academy vs Cretin-Derham Hall
The Skinny: The tough Raiders scheduled doesn’t get any easier when CDH faces fellow eastern metro private school STA. CDH is 3-3 and needs a win but will be challenged again by Jack Thompson and company.
Top Match-Up: Senior Jack Thompson vs Tre Holloman, Noah Chamberlain vs Jaeden King
Top Prospect: Freshman Tre Holloman of CDH
Prediction: CDH needs this game, they win by two scores.
Wayzata at Chaska
The Skinny: The Class AAAA Slugfest round-robin continues. Chaska is at the bottom of the top ten, Wayzata fell just outside of it the top ten after losing to Champlin Park. Both teams have lost a couple games and hope to avoid a third L.
Top Match-Up: Jacob Beeinga vs Connor Krenos, Zach Lea vs Luke Paulson, Cole Nicholson vs Camden Heide
Top Prospect: Freshman Camden Heide of Wayzata
Prediction: Tough game to predict, Wayzata seems due for a big performance, they win by six.
Eden Prairie at Lakeville North
The Skinny: A rematch of last year’s third place game, North and EP are still two of the teams expected to be playing for a state title come March. Another Class AAAA Round Robin Slugfest game. Could go either way, the North physical seniors versus the EP deep junior class.
Top Match-Up: Tyler Wahl vs Connor Christensen, Tommy Jensen vs Drake Dobbs
Top Prospect: Wisconsin signed Tyler Wahl
Prediction: North has the edge in physical play and homecourt, EP will be more physically talented. Such a tough game to pick between, EP by a point.
Lakeville South at East Ridge
The Skinny: South seems to be one year away from entering the round robin battles but they get a shot at state contender East Ridge this evening. Would be a huge upset for South.
Top Match-Up: Riley Mahlman vs Ben Carlson, Reid Patterson vs Kendall Brown
Top Prospect: Sophomore Kendall Brown of East Ridge
Prediction: Raptors by ten
Grand Meadow at Randolph
The Skinny: Huge Section 1A game between the Superlarks and Rockets, Randolph is ranked and undefeated, Grand Meadow is close to being ranked with a 7-1 record (lost to a good Iowa team).
Top Match-Up: Carsyn Gunderson vs Colton Landers, Andrew Wenstrom vs Austin Funk
Top Prospect: Colton Landers
Prediction: A massive game, Randolph wins by a three pointer. Gym will be packed.
St. Charles at Caledonia
The Skinny: Caledonia was surprised by Stewartville last week while St. Charles was humbled against St. Paul Johnson. Lake City looks like the 1AA favorite but both of these teams will be right there in the end. Loser does fall behind in the seeding race. Sophmores Drew Maloney and Kooper Vaughn have stepped up big for St. Charles with Drew Leistikow going down.
Top Match-Up: Eli King vs Drew Maloney, Owen King vs Sam Holtz
Top Prospect: Eli King
Prediction: Caledonia has their backs against the wall a bit. Owen King could have one of his biggest games of the year. Caledonia wins by nine.
