St. Mary’s pressure defense caused havoc for Estelline/Hendricks from the opening tip on their way to a convincing 69-33 win.
The Cardinals used that pressure to jump out to a 21-10 lead after the first quarter. The Redhawks struggled on both sides of the ball throughout the entire game and just couldn’t figure out a way to break the pressure or stop Libis on the offensive side.
St. Mary put the game away in the second quarter outscoring the Redhawks 27-4. It didn’t get much better in the second half for Estelline/Hendricks as early in the third quarter the game was put on a running clock. The Cardinals defense only allowed 19 points in the second half.
TURNING POINT: The second quarter for St. Mary on both sides of the ball dominated the Redhawks. They outscored the Redhawks 27-4 in that quarter alone.
KEY PLAYS: Defense, defense, defense and more defense. The Cardinals scored several points off of their defensive pressure throughout the game. That was the key to the Cardinals success last night.
STAT(S) OF THE GAME: Libis (22 points) outscored the Redhawks (14) at halftime. He finished five points shy of having as many points (28) as the entire Redhawks team (33).
TEAM LEADERS: The Cardinals were led by Libis with 28 points and Weston Geraets with 12 points.
The Redhawks were led by Marcus Hausman who had 10 points.

Dell Rapids St. Mary will play Castlewood in Brookings on the 29th at 3 p.m.
Estelline/Hendricks will also play in Brookings on the 29th against Oldham-Ramona/Rutland at 12:30.
