Senior forward Takori Rooks led the Panthers with 14 points.
Bartlett (13-1) built a 17-6 lead in the first quarter, but the Eagles rallied back in the second quarter with late baskets from senior forward Wyatt Messmer and junior guard Dante Carrasco to cut the team’s deficit to 29-20 at halftime.
But, the Panthers took over in third quarter, outscoring St. Benedict 21-5 in the quarter. Antavion Collum’s 3-point play put Bartlett up 32-20 in the early minutes of the quarter. Another score from Collum plus four points from Rooks and a 3 from Wynne Brown Jr. put the Panthers up 43-23.
Bartlett built its lead to 25 heading into the fourth quarter. Collum finished 10 points.
Sophomore forward Bobby Westbrooks led the Eagles (5-10) with 15 points. St. Benedict had 19 turnovers in the game, which led to easy scores for the Panthers. Bartlett didn’t shoot well from 3, converting on just 3 of 22 attempts, but made 9 of 14 shots from the free throw line.
Next up
The Panthers will face Houston Saturday night in the championship game. The Cougars (11-4) defeated Melrose 56-48 Friday night. Sophomore point guard TJ Madlock had a game-high 28 points. He went 9 of 11 from the free throw line.
Duane Posey had 18 points to lead the Golden Knights (12-3). Rickey Shotwell added 14.
Losers’ bracket
Desoto Central will play Wynne (AR) in the seventh place game Saturday at 2:30 p.m.
Sheffield will play the Memphis Nighthawks in the fifth place game at 4:00 p.m.
St. Benedict will play Melrose in the third place game at 5:30 p.m.
