6A Rankings: 1.0

The 6A rankings are finally here and to no ones surprise, Region 4 takes up many of the spots on this list. Believe it or not, Lone Peak has the worst win percentage of any of the teams in this stacked region at this point. It will be interesting to monitor and see how everything finishes in this region.

6A Rankings: Top 5

1. Pleasant Grove

Pleasant Grove is without two of their top prospects in Matt Van Komen and Kawika Akina due to injury. Van Komen’s injury happened recently and looks like he will be back in the mix soon, however.

With that said, Casey Brown, BYU commit, has played extremely well this season and is more than capable of holding his own until the rest of the squad is back in full force. Brown has scored the basketball more effectively than he did last year while still shooting it well from deep and getting his teammates involved.

In addition to Brown, Tyler Fairbanks improved production and knockdown shooting has been vital to the team’s early season success. Pleasant Grove will have plenty of tests coming up as all 5 teams from their region are in these rankings. With that said, the group is talented and as good as anyone in the state when at full strength.

2. American Fork

While American Fork is undefeated, they have not played the caliber of teams that Pleasant Grove has played to this point. With that said, they have played a solid schedule early and played really well.

Isaac Johnson has been a consistent 20 and 10 guy while Trey Stewart, Hayden Franson, and Tanner Cuff have played their roles well also. This team has one of the most balanced scoring attacks in the state and has plenty of scorers who can do it at a high level.

This is one of the most dangerous teams in a 1 and done format as they have a number of guys who can hurt opposing team. If one guys has an off game, they have plenty of others who can pick up the slack and keep them in the game.

Further, they have good length, capable shooters, and guards who can dictate tempo. Further, they are going to rarely lose the rebounding battle. American Fork is the real deal.

3. Lone Peak

The surprise isn’t seeing Lone Peak on this list despite losing a lot of talent from last year’s team. They reload every year. With that said, the surprise is that they are not higher on this list.

After a disappointing early season loss to Bountiful, the team has rebounded nicely and starting to play at a high level. They will definitely be in the mix in region play and during the state tournament.

Early in the year, Noah Smithson has played at a high level. He has been somewhat of an unsung hero who has been vital to the team’s success due to his sharpshooting.

Jaxon Pollard has done what everyone expected that he would do this season. He is a force for the team in every facet of the game and making an impact anywhere that he can. His versatility is a key part of Lone Peak’s success to this point.

Lastly, [player_tooltip player_id="543047" first="Josh" last="Jackson"] has played solid minutes for the group. Lone Peak will look to these three in order to stay atop the rankings and their region.

4. Bingham

Having one team in the top five rankings is enough to make teams worried for region play. Having the top four teams in the rankings would give most coaches a stomach ache. However, this is merely common practice for this region as this region is as good as any in the nation, let alone the state.

Bingham has big wins early in this season with Olympus and Davis being their top two. While they under performed last year, by their own standards, Bingham looks like they are back to their winning ways. The real question is will they be able to continue to do that with region play right around the corner?

The group has plenty of playmakers who will aid them in being competitive in this crazy region. [player_tooltip player_id="543050" first="Ethan" last="Langston"], Luke Tueller, [player_tooltip player_id="543098" first="Jordan" last="Toscano"], and Myles Youngblood will run the show for the team.

Bingham will be in the mix for a region and state title.

5. Fremont

There might not be a more dynamic backcourt in 6A than [player_tooltip player_id="543042" first="Dallin" last="Hall"] and [player_tooltip player_id="543043" first="Baylor" last="Harrop"]. These two can score in a hurry. Further, they play in a region that is talented and will challenge them, but will still afford them the opportunity to win games.

Hall and Harrop will have to continue to play like the best backcourt in 6A for Fremont to make a deep run in the state tournament. Fortunately, for them, Tige Voorhees has stepped up and added another scoring threat for the team.

There might not be another team in the state that utilizes the three point line as effectively and consistently as Fremont. In one and done formats, this can be a huge blessing and curse. If they get hot, there could be some huge upsets.

6A Rankings: Best of the Rest

6. Copper Hills

7. Davis

8. Westlake

9. Weber

10. Kearns
