Top Tucson Teams
In my opinion, Tucson is underrated and has some extremely talented players of their own. While Tucson does not have close to the population of Phoenix, they do have some teams that can more than hold their own. Here are the top Tucson teams:
Salpointe Catholic:
Salpointe is one of the best teams in the state and they are led by Evan Nelson (2020) and Majok Deng (2019). These two of talented enough to lead any team to the state tournament and they have been in the state championship game the last two years. While they may not have enough to push Shadow Mountain off of the top, who really does? Nelson and Deng are two of my favorite prospects in AZ and should contribute to any college team right away.
Palo Verde:
This team is absolutely loaded with talent. Their star player would be the scoring machine, Zionn Sandoval (2019). However, they have two other very promising prospects in Darius Rollins (2019) and Jeffery Thomas (2019). Thomas is a very speedy guard who is more than capable of getting his own buckets while Rollins is a super springy forward. They will look to avenge their early exit in last year’s playoffs.
Buena:
While Buena lost a lot of their team this year, I still think they will be very solid. They are very well coached and it is hard to count out Kino Bellinger (2019). Kino is a very versatile scorer and has a chance to go down as the leading scorer in Buena schoo history.
Catalina Foothills:
Catalina Foothills is a very well coached team and will win a lot of games with any players capable of running Damore’s system. Luckily for them, they will be led by the great shooting of Carson James (2019). While he recently committed to John Hopkins, I think he will want to go out with a great state tournament run.
