Recruiting Report: Dowar Jioklow (2020)
You don’t find many players with the size and skill of Dowar Jioklow. Listed at 6-foot-8, Jioklow is a long and crafty forward who can dribble, pass, and shoot. He’s still working to get better every day, but the fact is that he has a high ceiling and is starting to receive some attention from college coaches.
“I’ve been in contact with Rhode Island, George Mason, Pittsburgh, UMass, Georgia Southern, and a couple more, but I can’t think of them right now,” Jioklow said of his recruitment.
Over the summer with Team Takeover, Jioklow says he improved several facets of his overall game. Defensively, he learned how to become more disciplined as a player, and learned the importance of playing the right way on offense.
“My IQ has really improved since last season. I think that my passing ability is underrated. I can find my teammates well, and just focus on making the right play.”
This year, Jioklow believes his role will with Flint Hill be that of a glue guy, a leader, facilitator, and scorer. For the first quarter, he finished with a 3.4 GPA, and says he is just trying to maintain that throughout the year. When considering his goals, Jioklow is not shy about having high aspirations.
“Short term, I just want to help my team win basketball games, and long term is to be an NBA All-Star.”
Dowar Jioklow is currently ranked by Prep Hoops as a top-15 prospect in his class. To view the full ranking of Virginia’s 2020 class, click here.
