Recruiting Report: Jake Latta (2019)
Jake Latta, a class of 2019 post prospect from South County, is emerging into a popular target among division two college programs this fall. This comes after Latta had a strong showing at the DMVElite 80 in front of several scouts and coaches. The unsigned senior discussed his recruitment in detail during a recent interview with Prep Hoops
PH: Which schools are most active in your recruitment right now?
JL: “Recently I’ve picked up an offer from Notre Dame College in Ohio. Since the DMVElite 80, a lot of D2 schools have been talking to me. I visited Cal University of PA recently. I haven’t cut my list or anything, but recruitment is going well, and hopefully it will continue to pick up during the season.”
PH: What do you think is the most improved part of your game?
JL: “I think that my court vision and passing have improved. I’ve worked on my free throws, and I still just want to play hard. Keep playing harder.”
PH: It looks like you worked on your body. What did you do to improve it, and how do you think it’s helped you?
JL: “I gained some muscle; about four or five pounds. I think it’s helped me be a little bit more physical in the paint. Bodying up against defenders. I think it’s helped all-around.”
PH: How are your grades?
JL: “I’ve got a 3.4, 3.5 cumulative GPA, and an 1180 SAT Score.”
PH: What do you think you need to work on right now?
JL: “I definitely want to try and expand my shot a little bit more, make sure I can get my teammates open, and be a better all-around teammate.”
PH: What’s the most underrated part of your game?
JL: “My jump shot.”
PH: When do you plan to commit?
JL: “If I really find a school that I want, then I won’t wait.”
PH: What’s important in your decision?
JL: “I think a really good team chemistry atmosphere, great coaches, and just a school that I can see myself being happy at for four years.”
PH: What do you think you can bring to a college program?
JL: “I think I can bring a lot of team energy, a whole different dynamic, and positive energy.”
