Recruiting Report: Cody Mains (2019)
Cody Mains, a class of 2019 power forward at WT Woodson High School, made a significant leap in terms of production from sophomore to junior year. Now a senior, Mains is expected to make another jump, and this past summer he showed us a glimpse of what to expect. During a recent interview with Prep Hoops, he discussed his recruitment in detail while touching on the important factors he is considering in his condition among other topics.
PH: What’s your role going to be like this year at Woodson?
CM: “Definitely a team leader. I think I need to step up. We’ve got a lot of young players, so I’m focused on bringing the team together and making sure our chemistry is right.”
PH: What is your GPA and SAT score?
CM: “3.227 GPA, and 1150 SAT.”
PH: Which schools are currently recruiting you hardest?
CM: “Mostly schools in the Mountain East, like Wheeling Jesuit and Shepherd. I recently visited Wheeling Jesuit, and I have an official to Shepherd later this month.”
PH: Are you planning to commit before the season?
CM: “Yeah, I’m going to try to.”
PH: What factors are important for you in your college decision?
CM: “Definitely Academics. That’s #1. I’m also looking for a good fit, and I want to be part of a winning program.”
PH: What’s it like playing with another improving big man in Ben Jensen?
CM: “It’s nice. He’s able to replace Nate (Spurlock). Their games are a little different. Ben can shoot it a little bit better from the outside. I think he’ll be a really good piece for us this upcoming season.”
PH: What are your short and long term goals?
CM: “Just to get better. Improve my outside game, and to win the state championship again.”
