While transfers are certainly a huge story line in the 6A Central region, there is still plenty of talent here. This group will compete with the top teams in the 6A world due to the amount of depth and talent featured on the various teams. This region is also well coached with Todd Fazio bringing yet another established and proven coach into this region as he has taken over the job at Highland.
1. Mountain Pointe
Pointe lost a couple of key prospects. However, they bring back the most talent out of any team in this region. Further, they have the top prospect in the region in Jalen Graham. Graham is getting more and more versatile each time I watch him play. His footwork has improved which makes him a beast on the block and at the high post.
In addition to Graham, Khaild Price is a dog on the defensive end and puts the team in a position to win games due to his decision making and shooting abilities. Further, Dre Henry will provide the team with a versatile and constantly improving five man. This group will be as stout as ever.
2. Desert Vista
Desert Vista is another team who will have to deal with a top player leaving for prep school after Tyrek Chambers made the decision to make the move from the school after only being there for a year. However, Desert Vista has plenty of talent, but they will need strong guard play to utilize the rest of the pieces.
As far as the other pieces are concerned, there might not be a prospect who has improved his stock to the extent of Osa Ighodaro. Ighodaro is one of the most versatile prospects in the 6A class. He will play a key role for this team while the rest of this deep team steps up and figures out their roles.
Some of the prospects to watch who could have a huge impact for this deep Desert Vista team include: Sterling Wilson, Rylan McGuigan, Mason Harbertson, and Jared Kincade.
3. Corona Del Sol
Del Sol will have to live life without Dalen Terry. However, They will have Eric Blackwell back who has demonstrated that he can play this game at an extremely high level as well. Blackwell will be looked to as an even bigger part of this team due to Terry’s leaving.
The biggest question mark for this team will be who will step up next to Blackwell. Del Sol has plenty of talent and will reload like always. They will have plenty of options. It will only be a matter of time to see who will play at a high level and help them keep their strong tradition of success alive.
