Recruiting Report: AJ Casey (2022)
Simeon is getting the next potential star of high school basketball in Illinois with 2022 post AJ Casey. Already he is 6’8”, has plus athleticism, and a wing type skill level. It is absolutely scary how good he could be. Comfortable handling and finishing at the rim with both hands. Puts the ball on the deck bringing the ball up the court on occasion and can take his man off the dribble from the high-post area. Defensively he is so active covering ground with his quickness and length. So engaged on that end of the floor for a young prospect.
Casey spoke about his summer on the circuit with Meanstreets 14U.
“I feel like for myself I got a lot better over the summer. Being able to put the ball on the floor. Better on defense and my athleticism has improved tremendously over the summer.”
What was the experience like playing for the first time in competition with Simeon this past June?
“Building chemistry and getting used to the older guys seniors and juniors. They are more physical and have higher IQ’s. It was pretty good.”
Jaylen Drane is joining him in Simeon’s freshman class. The two top prospects have a unique bond already.
“It builds more chemistry as we play together. Planning to play all four years with Jaylen.”
What is going on with his early recruitment?
“I still have the same two offers from DePaul and Tulane.”
