Program Awards: Illinois Bears
Now that the travel team season has wrapped up we dive into programs across the state looking at their teams in a variety of categories in our Program Awards! Today we examine Illinois Bears!
Program MVP
Bryce Bultman (Nashville)
Bultman was the player that made everything mesh for the Illinois Bears on the travel team circuit. His size and versatility at the point guard position opened up so many more options for everyone else on the floor.
Top 2019 Prospect
Bryce Bultman (Nashville)
At 6’5” this Nashville point guard has the size to see over the defense along with the vision to create for others. Plus passer that makes plays in both the half court and transition. He can also score it pushing with long strides in the open floor as well as hitting pull up jumpers.
Top 2020/2021 Prospect
Caleb Zurliene (Breese Mater Dei)
Zurliene is a long and wiry two guard that burst on to the scene with his ability to put the ball in the hoop. The rising junior from Breese Mater Dei is a sound perimeter jump shooter that also has sneaky athleticism.
Sleeper
Austin Rager (Mt. Carmel)
Rager is a prospect that has broad shoulders, good length, and plus athleticism. At the small college level he will be able to defend multiple positions along with his upside as an offensive player. Best basketball is ahead of him.
Biggest Stock Riser
Keith Kiner (Chester)
Kiner broke out in the spring for the Bears. The big and strong forward is an above average athlete that excelled mostly on that alone playing for his high school team, but with an improved jumper and skill set he saw his stock rise.
