Don’t Forget About…..
The class of 2019 is now entering their last year of high school and final prep basketball season. We’ve heard a lot of names over grassroots season. We were aware of athletes that had a big spring or summer. Those names that we heard, however, are not the only stars returning next season. There are star players who have played out of state, faced injuries, or focused on improving their games away from the limelight. We will look at 5 basketball players who we shouldn’t forget about heading into the 2018-19 season in Michigan.
Charles Anderson-Louie (SG, Harper Woods Tower)
Anderson-Louie dealt with injuries during grassroots season. He’s still a talent with a college ready frame. Anderson-Louie is a strong guard who can overpower opponents. He’s excellent on a straight line dribble drive going through his defender.
Deondre Bonaparte (CG, Ecorse)
Bonaparte dealt with an injury over the summer. He’s a truly versatile guard who can play on or off the ball. Bonaparte is an explosive scorer with no limits on his range. He’s a team leader that coaches love. Bonaparte is the type of talent that should get a scholarship offer this season.
Dylan Jergens (PG, Howardsville Christian)
Jergens was having one of the best grassroots seasons in Michigan before an injury sidelined him for a bit. He is one of the best pure shooters in the state. Jergens isn’t just a shooter though. This spring, he proved that he’s a high level ball handler and distributor as well. Jergens is easily a Division 2 talent.
Deshawn Marbury (PG, Henry Ford)
Marbury has laid low this summer, quietly fine tuning his game. The tough point guard some breakout games last high school season. Marbury showed the ability to attack the rim and finish or dish to a teammate. The kid plays hard and could have a big senior season.
Kasean Pryor (SF, Ann Arbor Pioneer)
Pryor played out of state for the Chicago based Young & Reckless during grassroots season. He’s a 6’7 small forward who can shoot the lights out. Pryor showed the ability to score from all three levels this summer and earned a handful of Division 1 offers. Pryor will be one of the top seniors in Michigan next season.
